Well made, solid twist tiller at a good price
The media could not be loaded. The Hortem Garden Claw Cultivator tool or twist tiller is a high quality garden tool made of iron. The handle is composed of ABS material and it all assembled quickly and easily with clear to follow instructions. The tiller is solid and of good quality, it's easy to use and it's very effectively for purpose. The t-shaped handle makes turning it much easier, even in hard or compacted ground. Shaft is 76cm long which I feel is an ideal height for myself.Good value and quality product in my opinion.

A good, sturdy garden aid!
The cultivator was easy to put together and was instantly available for use. Our soil is very much a clay soil and in a dry spell of weather it had baked hard. The Cultivator was well able to deal with the bits that were not baked into a hard "crust" - for these the only answer was to start with a garden fork to get the cultivator in and then use it. It makes a far better job of turning and tilling the soil than a fork. One criticism I have is that the handles are not really designed for work on really hard soil and I had a blister on one of my thumbs from turning the device in the heavy soil and I was wearing sturdy gloves.. A little bit more attention to the molding of the grips might help with this problem! Let it be said, however, that I have had other makes of cultivator that had no protection for the hands. It is a sturdy device that is up to most jobs, I imagine; I have had other cultivators of this type that simply broke and were consigned to the bin! In general I am very pleased with the device and am pleased with it - I only give it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the grip issue mentioned above.

Hand Tiller
The media could not be loaded. Delivered in a plain cardboard boxInside the box sit all of the components of this garden hand tillar . It comes in three parts , with an assembly instruction leaflet a bag of screws and a nice pair of gardening gloves .Made from a lightweight metal the three parts consist of the handle , this has ABS rubber grips , the central black pole , and finally the bottom part which holds the clawYou can adjust the size as all three pieces gave two holes to put the screws through . Assembly is really simple all you need is a spanner to tighten the nuts on the screws .This is the perfect height for raised beds rotating and agitating the soil before you begin planting .The claw and handle are coated yellow ,but the claw is easy to clean off with a brush . I like to ensure it's stored in a dry place to expand the life of the metal fixings and avoid any rusting .Very reasonably priced you'd be hard pressed to find a hand tillar if this quality in a garden centre at this ones price . I'm happy to recommend .

Very effective tool
This cultivator makes it much easier to cultivate and turn over your soil. The claws dig into the soil and you just have to twist the tool to turn the soil over. The tool is made of metal and feels solid. The rubber handles gives a comfortable feel in your hands on use.Assembly took a few minutes.

Wow!
This device is amazing. Just started on my garden to get it ready to sow some meadow flowers and grass seeds .Doesn’t take much to turn the soil over, helped doing it after it rained so the soil was damp. I have torn rotator cuffs in both shoulders and it didn’t cause me pain

Could be stronger
I thought this was a good tool and it worked really well when I first tried it. After a few days of dry weather (and heavy clay soil), I managed to bend the tines out of shape! I was twisting it pretty hard, but I was surprised to see it bend! Still a good idea, but not for compacted hard soil.

made short work of the job
Although there is a bit of wiggle in the main body (like others have mentioned) I can't say that it has any real impact. The wing nuts are robust so it's held up well so far and easy to put together. Made short work of the job I had and it'll no doubt serve me well in the coming years as it seems like sturdy materials! Far easier than trying to turn ground with a fork in my opinion. You need a bit more effort from arms/core (compared to using a fork), but the twisting motion helps "drill down" into the soil. Our soil was quite compacted, so I could only just go a little further than the depth of the prongs on the first pass, but I could pull "plugs" of soil out - if I wasn't rough with it, the soil stayed within the 4 prongs and then I could lift it out and tap it off to the side. Once the first layer was turned, I could get down further. We were clearing an area that had trees historically and it was very overgrown with nettles (nettles were well established so the roots were really thick) It did a great job of getting the roots out. Came across plenty of stones too - some of the paint came off but this is just superficial and it hasn't rusted it. If you've partially exposed a big stone, you can go into the soil at an angle to loosen below/around it) this makes it easier to get them out, or if it's not too big, you can catch the edge with one of the prongs and pop it out with one twist. Would highly recommend this tool. With all the stones and roots i had to deal with, it would've taken me way more time and effort to get through all the roots and the stones!

The fastenings are rubbish
The butterfly clips they give you to screw the pieces together aren't really up to the job and come loose, but I'm going to replace them with something from my local hardware shop like strong screws and bolts which should do the trick. Otherwise a very neat tool and had my neighbours on my allotment commenting what a great tool it is already. Makes light work of churning the soil.
