Dusk's Darkest Shores

slight spoiler included in my review...
The book does a good job drawing you into the lives of the characters. The author is not afraid to broach difficult topics which I appreciated. This story was different in its long-term goal then most; as it did not follow the "typical" formula. There were a couple of sidebars that did not go the way I thought they would or have the high impact I suspected they would hold either. Obviously, I'm not the author so my opinion is mine. It just made me pause and decide if the trajectory the story did take, was worthwhile...and, yes, I can say it was.I enjoyed getting to know these two strongly developed main characters and see them grow to love each other.Spoiler included next...The reason this story received 4 stars instead of 5 is because I was a little sad at the ending. The entire book had been priming you that it may go one way, and then it didn't. Again, just my own preconceptions letting me down. The story overall was wonderful and I am so thankful for Christian authors writing Christian novels. Carolyn Miller, REALLY, includes God too. Like, all the way! To the point of talking about and expecting miracles even today. Hallelujah and thank you Jesus that you not only save, but deliver and heal!I bought this book for my own reading pleasure as this author is a favorite of mine. I have not read any of her contemporary stories only historicals.P.S. I thoroughly enjoyed the proposal scene. ;)

The book was just ok
I had a difficult time getting into the book. It just did not interest me. About half way into the book there were a couple of parts that interested me. I skimmed through the book most of the way to the end.
