Mixed feelings
I’ve got really mixed feelings about this book which I bought thinking it would be a graphic novel for my nine year old. On the plus side: Sattouf is talented and smart. My daughter can’t put this book down - and it’s so hard to get her to read. Minus side: Some of the content is a bit old for her, I found myself having to explain things that I’m not sure she needs to know about right now, like pornography. Some of the stories are good jumping off points for discussion and debate, but some of them are cringey. So In sum, I’m just not sure whether it’s age appropriate. My husband says definitely not meant for kids.

Good for 11 and 12 year-old girls as well
Some of the chapters may raise an eyebrow or two with parents, but all-in-all the stories are very funny, topical, and work just fine for UK. I can see my 12-year old daughter is enjoying it after getting over her initial skepticism when viewing the title...

Very amusing
Esther is very like my granddaughter so bought this for her. Luckily read it before I gave it to her. It's really not for children! A lovely present for myself though!
