Helping Baby Sleep: The Science and Practice of Gentle Bedtime Parenting

A breath of fresh air
After reading other sleep books that preached sleep training and discouraged nursing baby to sleep, I was left worrying I was doing everything wrong. My 9 week old sleeps well with support, but was I setting her up to be unable to sleep in her own? Should I already be trying to wean her off my soothing comfort? I suddenly found myself stressing her sleeping when I hadn't thought it problematic before. It was a gift to read this heavily research-based book which supported the soothing attention I've been giving my baby to help her sleep. Of course I look forward to a more predictable and steady nap and sleep pattern when she is older. But for now, I'm cherishing and embracing nursing, rocking, singing, and cuddling her to sleep. And it's nice to have the research to reinforce my decision to do so.

Great book
This book was recommended by a birth educator. I used this book to help my son sleep. It is very good, although I wish they elaborated more on the methods to help my son sleep. They give alot of explanation on why it is not good to cry it out, but they should give more examples and practical advice on how to help them fall asleep.

Very reassuring for a mother and her instincts.
Friends and doctors told me all the time "letting your baby cry is the only way for you to sleep". I tried it a couple of nights and it just didn't feel right at all, but not knowing what to do or why was the worst. Learning with this book about why not to let my baby cry with such a research based information it just helped me be OK with my instincts without having to doubt myself every time some one else comes to tell me -again- I have to let my baby cry. Do I sleep better? No, but at least my mind is in peace while I'm awake taking care of my baby's needs during the night, knowing for sure that it's part of my baby's healthy growth. I'm glad I read this book and in the name of my son I thank the authors. The book is very interesting and easy to read.I would give 5 stars if the "solutions" were more extensive and better explained, since they let me with some questions.

I found this beautiful book which I just love it because show us ...
I am a mother of twins who almost got mad trying to put my babies to sleep at the same time. I read a lot of books available in the market about sleeping issues and I combined different techniques, some of them made me feel that something was wrong with me and never try them again. I found this beautiful book which I just love it because show us that there is not such as quick fix "sleep training". Babies needs reassurance, love, cuddles and more, we have to be patient, caring and CONSISTENT. My babies sleep through the night because no matter how long I had to be awake in the middle of the night, I was there for them, therefore, they stop waking up as they know that mom is always around.
