John PearsonPainfully Rich: The Outrageous Fortune and Misfortunes of the Heirs of J. Paul Getty

Interesting book, but...
Interesting book, but it is really more about the Getty's heirs than Jean Paul Getty, which was disappointing to me. While I guess the many foibles and dysfunctions of the "family" might be of some interest, I had hoped for more in the way of exploring J. Paul Getty the man, and especially his rise in the business, financial and philanthropic world. This book does cover some of this, but usually in context of his sexual and marital mischief.Nonetheless, it is an interesting book and certainly reinforces the well-told fact that money doesn't buy happiness, for guarantee a loving family.

Outrageous story. His wife was my neighbour so I'm one sided on the story. Very well told though and very entertaining
