Solid Bass Drum Head when Perfection is Required!
This head sounds fantastic, and unlike many such heads, these are two-ply with a hydraulic fluid between them. This helps the head to resonate at a lower pitch, and the two-ply system helps it stand up to serious beating. Two-ply also reduces the overall volume of the bass drum, which actually balances its sound *very* *very* well with the kit overall.I used Aquarian for years..... Evans is "head" and shoulders above the rest!I use Evans Genera Dry heads for my piccolo and standard snares, I use Evans Hydraulic heads for all toms and my bass drum. I also use Evan Genera Resonant heads for all drums except the bass drum -- I use an Evans Black (ported) EQ3 on the bass drum resonant side.

Sounds amazing! Looks even better!
I ended up putting this on the front as a resonance head. With the EMAD 2 as my batter head. I have placed the Evans EQ dampening pad inside, and......WHOA!!!!! My kick has never sounded so good! I get a ton of compliments on a blue resonance head. The kick has such a cool look, and a crazy thick and tight sound. With the blue head on front and clear head in back, the audiences can see through the kick drum when I'm on stage. I've been hearing non-stop compliments for weeks. I've got blue hydrolics on my toms too. They are great for a quick attack and thick sound. They do not ring out. They are not for soft drummers who need resonance when playing with a light touch. But a little bit of pressure and they really open up. I give them 5 stars. Just know what sound you are going for when purchasing drum heads. These are perfect for what they do

Nice deep tones with less over ring
These heads produce a softer, deeper tone, with less over ring. Great sound for rock drummers. The blue color looks amazing on my '69 Ludwig Oyster Pearl (Ringo finish) set.

All thud and no ring.
Great batter head if you want all thud and resonance. I have a hazy ambassador on the resonant side and need zero muffling, no pillow, no anything for a solid thud. Tighten the batter for a snappier attack. Good for hip hop drumming, 70/80s power rock, metal, or any time you want a clear quick bass drum sound. Warning: not for any style where you want sweet resonant tone, this sound is dead by those standards.

Great
They really changed the tone of this vintage Tama set, and I like it. The colors are very cool bonus and really gives the set an awesome look. I don't have to use tape and/or cloth to dampen the sustain and that is nice.

Sort of a one trick pony but it’s good at that one trick
Generally speaking this is definitely not the head for me, but it has its place and doesn’t really deserve the flak it gets from drum head snobs. I’ve got it on the kick of my low volume practice rig, this head paired with an Evans sound off mute and I’m getting a really nice kicky thud in a small practice room without overwhelming anything. I would not go with this on my regular acoustic kit but I could see it working fine if this sound is what you’re going for.

Perfect for my project
I needed a new front for my kick so I could put vinyl on it for my friend’s church. Works perfectly.

AHead of all the rest
After trying and buying a few others, I can say without a doubt this one is the best(to me). The emad and emad 2 with their foam dampening rings were excellent as well, but this one does pretty much the same thing but better. Punchy and a quick thump. I've had it for a few months and it has been through a lot I that short time. But it is still kicking. Do yourself a favor and go for it.
