Set of 6 charcoal compost bin filters to keep your compost bin discreet, and kitchen smelling fresh and clean. These filters last about 2 months before they need to be replaced and are dishwasher safe. Filters are biodegradable and compostable, so when you are ready to replace your filter, the material breaks down cleanly, returning to the earth and leaving very little environmental impact.

Attractive design, but mediocre quality considering the price
What attracted us to this unit was its capacity and design. Our previous compost bin was too small and required frequent emptying. This unit has adequate capacity, and has an attractive aesthetic design. Unfortunately, its construction is mediocre: there are rough seams in the plastic, and burn-marks in the bends of the bamboo handle. For the price, which is considerable, we were expecting a far better-made product.

I really don't like the lid with the charcoal filter
Pros:This compost bin is one of the prettiest with its cream-colored matte finish and bamboo handle.Cons:I really don't like the lid with the charcoal filter. The filter gets all nasty when food gets on it, and that lid is difficult to wash. Now I have to figure out where to buy more filters, which is just another thing to maintain at home. Our town composts, and the default compost bin we get from them is much sturdier with a lid that flips, similar to the OXO Good Grips Easy Clean Compost Bin: https://www.amazon.com/OXO-Grips-Clean-Compost-White/dp/B003ZFW0YQ/ref=sr_1_6?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1530500253&sr=1-6&keywords=compost+bin+countertop

handle broke very quickly.
Both of the screws that hold the handle on fell off within 3 weeks. The design is quite nice, but the screws are very poor quality and do not hold. We can't reuse the old screws as they are of poor quality... and with the holes in the sides of the buckets flies get in. I'd ask for a new one, but the return window is closed.... I'd recommend not buying this as it broke quickly.

Feels expensive because it is
It feels like a luxury item, but it does work very well-- no smells, no flies. That said, I definitely paid 40 dollars for a wooden bucket with a lid. The quality of the materials and build is readily apparent: the lid is heavy and fits perfectly into place, the body feels soft and warm, the whole things feels solidly built-- but it is a 40 dollar gallon bucket that is just as functional as the free plastic container given out by the city. I don't know, i think I bought it in the midst of a pre-baby panic attack.Still worth five stars in the end. A really nice gift and lends a real sense of elegant luxury to the kitchen compost.

flat sides mean I can hang it on my cutting board
I love the flat sides because I like to hang it just under my cutting board so I can scrape scraps directly into it. I didn't want a plastic bucket (environment, shorter lasting) and I didn't see a metal bucket that wasn't round so I got this one and love the look and function and the fact that it is bamboo and has less of an environmental footprint. Great product!
