Must have for all bird watchers!!!
The 100 Best Birdwatching Sites in Indiais a guide for which I was waiting for quite some time. Practically there is no other book in the market which can give you such detail information about Birdwatching sites in india. Beautiful pictures of birds, habitat and ‘how to reach’ information is quite valuable.A book like this is also a welcome move to attract wildlife travellers from around the world to visit India.I would recommend this guide to all bird watchers and wildlife enthusiasts. This is going to be my companion for all my upcoming Birdwatching trips.

Important sides in India
It's a wonderful & very important guide book to the birders, who can see the visuals as photographs not as paintings.B.k.jain. Photo journalist,Patna.

Good book for pictures, but..
Good book for pictures, but the information on the spots itself is sketchy. It's useful for people that have absolutely no clue or little or no information about birding hotspots, while the occasional mention of places that are unknown do help, the book generally is a list of places well known ( national parks, hills etc ). I would not recommend buying if you already are a birder in India - the internet will give you all the information. With that out of the way, if you are keen to get into birding and are looking for a bit more details on birding as you travel in India then the book is right for you. The way the book is presented - it also covers a bit of safety instructions and tips on each state in India - which makes me think that the target audience for this book is not primarily Indian birders and travelers. The pictures are great and the book feels great in hands - good quality paper and binding.

Excellent Field Guide for Indian Birdwatchers...Great for Novices as well as Professionals
I have been quite a Fan of Bikram Grewal and fond of Birds of India also. Extremely useful Book with detailed Sighting and conservation mentioned. As an budding Ornithologist who moves around the globe and Avid Birdwatcher...I have found the quality of the book Comparable to best of Barron's series. The latest edition has international Quality printing...excellent glossary and distinct segregation.A must have for Novices and first time Bird Watchers in India or Global traveller's who wishes to visit India for Bird watching.Though wanted more on Himalayan sector which is less.Rest an excellent buy and must have..Thanks.Koustav M.Dhar.CEO and Managing Director.Zoom Air, India

Nice book
Good book with nice maps and pics of birds. Would have been happier with more detailed information on the logistics of the various destinations. But more importantly it gives me a source to identify places i can visit across india for birding trips. There are many sources available to plan the trip when I do get around to that.

Details are missing, not a great book!
Good for beginners, as this book highlighted 100 best places where plenty of birds are available and filled with pictures. However, the informations are not sufficient if you are planning for a trip to any of the 100 birdwatching sites. Unwanted checklists with name, scientific name of the birds and repetitive lines about the conservation of each birdwatching sites has gnawed away a major volume of this book. More details is now available on fb or google than this book. I use it as my checklist, I pick up the destination from this book and ask my friends or google the destination to plan the trip.

Bookends
Font was small even for a paperback but excellent photography made up for it.

Nicely put together book but too many photographs and not enough maps
Nicely put together book which gives you a good background into the best birdwatching stes in the country. It has far too many photographs however, some of which are nice but others are a waste of space as most people travelling to the country would probably already know what a Common Pochard, Gadwall or Common Snipe looks like! This space could have been used to include detailed site maps of which there are none. I have many site guides and most of them include the walking paths and best areas to look for specialist birds.

Beautiful book, but...
Positives: many sumptuous, beautiful photographs; good site descriptions and informationNegatives: site maps are less than useless; too many mis-captioned photos (e.g. page 57, 85, 89...)
