"Planetarium" is overselling it, but the slides are good
I bought this hoping for an accurate projection of the stars for our 2-year-old's bedroom so we could look at the constellations together. This product can't manage that. The images produced by the "planetarium" are unfocussed and blurry. They are also blue for some reason, and the projections revolve thanks to a motor which makes a subtle grinding noise and cannot be turned off. That said, this does an excellent job as a projector for the supplied space slides We project them on the ceiling, lie back, and name the planets. The project is easy to angle and point and feels pretty solid. It's expensive for that, though.Projector: 5/5Planetarium: 2/5

Probably the best star projector around
This product is very good as a planetarium type projector for the "random" star filter that it has. For projecting on to walls in a house the focus isn't that great for all stars so the constellation filter is a bit poor.It would be great if the was a random star with constellation filter included. We use the planetarium mode for helping get our 1 year old to sleep and he loves it. I could take or leave the picture projection mode. But we will see what the boy thinks when he is a bit older.Overall the product is very good.

And there was light
My son is a space nut so this is perfect. As much as he love the planetarium portion he also loves the slides that come with it. We've sat through several planetarium shows that he has put on for us showing us all the different types of galaxy formations. I would say that if you're planning on using this as a night light then be ready to charge batteries at least 1-2 times a week. My son uses this every night and we turn it off when we check on him before we go to bed (around 12-1 am) so it does last for a while.Note: I can't praise Eneloop rechargebale batteries enough. I've been using them for years and can't believe the power consistency. I believe they are rated for like 10,000 recharges and with how much we use them over the past 10 years I have never thrown one out yet. I know they are pricey but after using several different inferior varieties I just can't love them more.

Great gift
My 9-year-old Grandson is into astronomy now, and he loves this STEM toy, he watches the solar system revolve around the room and loves that he can name most of it. It is too bad there are no more slide disks available to buy for it, they would be able to become more advanced as he does.
