Baladéo Nautical Knife

Very good

I grew up with this knife, or it's twin I should say. I first bought this style of knife in London and literally grew up with it. At some point, it became a sort of attachment because it was so indestructible that it took losing it to grieve and wonderwhere it ended up. That said, I was happy to see the style reappear in Baladeo's version. It's very slightly better in that theequipment is no longer impossible to open, the blade and spike is of higher quality--to include being sharper than a razor, though I have yet to find out how indestructible it is. It's minimally well built and tough but time has to be the final answer to that question. Any tool I use is used and abused to so I'll be sure to edit this if it suddenly falls apart but I doubt that would happen...all the construction looks pretty much the same. You want a nautical style knife, get this one. It was a toss up between this and a bells and whistles knife maker from the UK who has a good rep. I'm sure his knife is good too,but I feel it was the right choice at this price, and I can't really imagine that I took any dips in quality.the edit///i stand by this review, no changes exept that: i had to go back to my old standard, which comes with all the quality, but without the can opener--who uses these nowadays really? sheffield makes my old standard. look under british navy two piece jack knife if you agree about the can opener. loving this knife and felt good about giving the baladeo to a friend. happy endings all round (husband of the above name in case you were wondering about the geek factor)

The blade is good and sharp. I nicked myself with it right off. The bottle opener worked flawlessly on a bottle of double bock to assuage my injured pride.
