I'd say they were about 3/4 inch thick. They are really cute. I had a cater to use ours and he said it did better than his professional grade one.

pictures 4 & 7 show the indent pattern of mickie (aka you can pour syrup IN the ears), the others show the outdent pattern. which one is it?

Yes a little bit. There is a little raised part in the middle of the ears but some syrup can be poured around that part, kind of like a moat. Hope that helps.

What is the difference between the mickey waffle maker and the classic mickey waffle maker? The classic is $7 cheaper...

The only difference is the look of the outer case. Do you prefer the classic look, with the "classic" Mickey and a stainless steel finish? Or do you prefer the pop of red and a more modern looking Mickey? Otherwise, the baking plates and size are exactly the same.
