Inspired by Scripture and rooted in history, The Young Messiah imagines a year in the boyhood of Jesus. When the mystery of Jesus' divinity begins to unfold in His early years, He turns to His parents for answers. But Mary and Joseph, in an effort to protect their child, are afraid to reveal all they know. How do you explain the ways of the world to its Creator? Follow the young Messiah as He and His family take the extraordinary journey from Egypt to Nazareth and on to Jerusalem – where His true identity and profound destiny are revealed.Bonus Content:Deleted ScenesThe Making of The Young MessiahFeature Commentary with Director/Co-Writer Cyrus Nowrasteh and Co-Writer Betsy Giffen Nowrasteh]]>

A great movie about the early life of Christ.
This is such a good movie. It's based off The Christ the Lord two book series written by Anne Rice. (the same author of the Vampire Chronicals)This movie is based on first book, Christ the Lord. Out of Egypt. Of course the book was so much better, but usually good books are better than their movie counter parts. This is the second time I saw this movie. It was advertised on one of my many subscription channels for free but only Prime had it. There was a rental fee but Idc bc I loved the book and this movie, so the fee didn't matter.I'm not a person who tries to describe the entire movie with multiple and convoluted long paragraphs resulting in spoilers. I'll just use adjectives and adverbs and try not to be boring.Thought provoking; There's close to nothing written about Jesus's childhood and adolescence. So how did Mary and Joseph handled the truth about their Son and try to raise and give Him a normal childhood? How did their extended family react towards and treat Jesus? A child has tribulations, thoughts and questions, especially if they can sense something is secretive. Did Jesus have questions and what about His feelings towards the adults who became silent when He entered a room? Another adverb; Sad. In the movie Jesus is a loving, caring and almost always an obedient child who loves playing and just being a kid. He's like any other child. We know the ending and the pain He, His mother, family and friends will go through. After the sadness, I do feel uplifted bc there's a scene where He's pondering on everything up until that point and He seems hopeful of the future. If you enjoy Biblical movies, you'll like this one. There are a lot of other encounters and moments but I'm not into giving away spoilers.Do not think this is an overzealous, preaching movie with religious subliminal tones. It's not. And this is not leading up to The Passion Movie. It's purely speculation and you can make of it what you will.I think Anne Rice did a spectacular job with her two books. For awhile I thought there would be a follow up movie based on the second book, Christ the Lord. The Road to Cana, also highly recommended. However since this movie is over 10 years old and Anne Rice is no longer here, There likely won't be one. AMC is now the owner of all of her books, and have started series on the Vampire Chronicals and Mayfair Witches, maybe something in the future? On another note, I'm now glad Anne Rice didn't do a trilogy to this series. For it to work, it would've had to have a religious dogma. Trying to remain objective and speculative while at the same time not pushing the religious views she had at the time, would've resulted in a failure for a third book. She obviously put a lot of research, time, and effort into these two books. After The Passion movie, I'm now so glad she didn't go further.

Great movie. Good casting
Great movie. Good casting. Good script. Good directing. Great music. Good costumes. Please more more more of the same. Hoping for a sequel. Rich teachings within the movie...even though the young life before He was 30 years of age was never recorded in the gospels with the exceptions of the narrative of His birth and where it is written in the gospels of His parents finding Him in the temple. Other than that it is a fictional novel...But to me not really...with all we know about Christ in the gospels...they infused it into the child of Jesus in the movie. Each time something would happen within those times that are not written in scripture...i would say to myself...its possible! We do that all the time while reading the regular gospels ...for God is always challenging us with one question: "Do You Believe its Possible?" This movie is good for one reason ....especially...its that it stirs your imagination and faith in God. And that's good when a movie does that. . If it means anything.... I got chills three times and cried once. I got a couple of personal revelations for my own soul. The acting was very good. The directing great. The script was moving too. Many impressive times in the movie. There were very many touching scenes as Jesus, even as a young child demonstrated, wisdom, compassion and tender mercy toward all those around him. His gospel that he taught later was interwoven throughout the movie. I could see foreshadows of his future. The last scene with Mary and Jesus was so wonderful. Oh if all parents would speak faith, courage and love into their children like both parents did. The movie is a a good role model for parents all around the world. In this extremely distracting world often times parents forget to teach their children the spiritual lessons that would strengthen their character and heart against the harsh things of life. This is indeed a family movie. Little children under 7 wont understand it that well...but if your child is prepared first before he watches the movie about the real Jesus...then the movie will make sense to them. I am an ongoing student of the bible and a certified teacher from a bible institute and I highly recommend it. I would not recommend this movie if its the first movie you see about God. I would first expose your self and your children to some true bible stories about Jesus as an adult first. Adults should watch movies like Jesus of Nazareth and children can watch bible stories just made for kids. I am going to watch it again with my young granddaughter who already has been taught about Jesus. This movie i know will enrich her and her parents. It did me. i was very touched and it opened up doors to all the possibilities of what the child Jesus had to endure, suffer and grow into throughout his young life, as he grew and matured in wisdom, integrity and love, as God's only Begotten Son. I highly recommend you watch it first...and then again with your kids. Explain a little about what it would be like to be a child with a heart that was very kind and a child that could perform miracles of the kind that would make one a better person. Lastly pray before you watch it that God may reveal to your heart...what you personally need to know about God's character and plan for your life.

Well done movie, excellent acting, casting and cinematography
I'm not a Bible thumper, but the good book says: "And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen." John 21:25 So for all those thumpers complaining about it not being a scripture based movie, read the disclaimer at the beginning of the movie instead of complaining. The disclaimer at the beginning that says it's not based on scripture, but it does contain some of the events reported in the Bible about Jesus' young life (and there aren't many). So although it is a fictional work, it does display the flavor of a young Messiah growing up and learning he is God's son. To most of us, that would be quite a shock to find out, but he handles it well for his age (better than his parents do). I liked it enough on Amason Prime video to buy the DVD and I'm sharing it with lots of friends. It is so well done I wish it were a TV series as it might actually teach some Bible believers about the love of Jesus for this pathetic planet he chose to do his incarnation on. I love The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (a lot) and all the free shipping for all the junk we ordered during (and after) Covid, but doing a TV series based on this movie would be beyond anything Amazon has ever produced. And I remind you, I'm NOT a Bible thumper. Just a normal person who appreciates positive stories about Jesus and that period of time that he lived.
