This knife stays sharp, is attractive, and comes with a protective sleeve to protect the blade.
I have quite a few of the high-end expensive knives such as Shun, Wustoff, etc, and have found that many of the high-end knives are more expensive because you are paying for a known brand. As I have learned more about kitchen knives, I have found that it is more important to pay attention to the materials the knives are made of, the content of the materials, the manufacturing processes used to produce the knife, and the angle of the blade. Since I am an avid cook, my knives and their quality is important to me. So, I am always on the lookout for new knives that meet my qualifications. I have learned from experience that shopping for quality knives means looking at the attributes of the knife rather than the brand name. So many of the lesser known brands have all of the qualities of the brand names, but cost a lot less. This is the case with this knife. This is a knife that meets all of my qualifications and then some. - It has the 10-15 degree blade angle maintained by Asian knives that is much sharper than the blade angle of European and American knives. - It is made of VG-10 steel that results in a harder sharper blade that holds the sharpness much longer than other steels and resists staining and rust. - Although true Damascus steel increases the hardness and sharpness of the blade, this knife has only a Damascus pattern etched on the blade. I have found this to be true on most of the knives I have bought that were described as having Damascus steel blades. - It is made of high carbon steel which maintains sharpness longer and resists rusting. - It is also important to consider the chromium, and cobalt content of the steel as these add to the hardness and structure of the metal which helps to increase time the blade will hold sharpness, resistance to breakage, resistance to rust, etc. I won't get into the details of these as more info can easily be found on the internet. This knife comes boxed in a very attractive box that make it perfect for a gift. Since I bought this knife for myself, I won't keep the box, but I do appreciate the supplied protective sleeve. If you keep your knives in a drawer as I do, it's important to protect the blades from damage. In the past for my more expensive knives, I have had to buy protective sleeves separately. So I do appreciate that a sleeve is supplied with this knife. The weight of the knife feels good in my hand, and the handle is comfortable. In addition to being made very well, I think the handle is very attractive.I have been using this knife almost daily for over a month, and I couldn't be happier with it. It is excellent for slicing even delicate foods such as tomatoes, and is a dream for chopping. As yet, I haven't had to sharpen it and it cuts as well as it did the day I got it. I have another similar knife, but this one is quickly becoming my favorite.I hope this review was helpful for you and I will update the review if my opinion changes.

Dubious. Not worth sixty bucks
I’m VERY skeptical of the quality of this knife at this price point. I bought this as a gift for a client of mine. As a gift, pretty horrible as it comes off as gimmicky Chinese crap (certainly doesn’t read “expensive $65 knife.”) 1st, it just came in a cheap black generic box, not the pretty floral embossed one other reviewers had posted pictures of. 2nd, there’s no stamp on the blade or pamphlet in the box describing the quality (Damascus steel) of the steel, composition, hardness level, blade angle, care instructions- not even the name of the manufacturer is anywhere to be found. It could be just a cheap all-flash, no-function knife that you can get at swap meet for all the recipient would know. When you spend good money to try to impress someone with this knife as a gift, it’s an utter disappointment. There are other knives at half the price that do this much better. 3rd, I own a real folded Damascus blade, and the pattern on this blade (which is nowhere near as nice looking as pictured) looks laser etched, not actually folded- a common trick used on Chinese-made knives sold here on Amazon. 4th, it’s not a full 8” knife- about 1/2” short. They “rounded up.” After some more looking around on Amazon you can find many similar knives from different “manufacturers” which are actually just names of different distributors. If I didn’t have to gift this TODAY I’d be sending it back.

Nice and sharp!
Anything that is made to cut things can be quite fun to test out. This one wound u going home with one of our editors where we compared it side-by-side with a semi-similar style knife (a basic store-bought kitchen knife/block set). With that, we put it to the test against a good roast where it needing to be cut down before and after cooking. This knife was able to cleanly slice through most everything we put it up against where the normal kitchen set alternative knife option gummed up multiple times where the blade just wasn't sharp enough or wasn't fine enough to get the job done (and the set is a few months new).It continued to cut its way through the preparation of the meal to the very end, resulting in a positive impression on those of us involved in this little test. The design of the knife is simple with a mix of something else. The handle is wood with a decorated section between the handle and the blade that is something like you'd find on a pool stick with colors of red, white, yellow, and black. It comes with a nice sheath to slide it into during storage as well so you don't cut yourself reaching into a drawer for it (like most of these knives).

Flawless quality, beautiful handle, and super sharp too.
I have been looking for smaller japanese knives for my collection and I found this one, really beautiful and just had to get it. I was not dissapointed, this is a really nice knife. First off, the blade is beautiful in itself. Very sharp, slices without effort and very nice to hold in the hand. The design is amazing and the handle is so beautiful too. Hard to show how nice this one is with just pics, so I did a short video to show. No cons, very impressive knife, where I am very happy with the purchase.
