The Charmed Wife: 'Does for fairy tales what Bridgerton has done for Regency England' (Mail on Sunday)

This book was chosen by my book club. Initially I didn't know what to make of it, but it kept my interest through to the end, but I like things to be neatly resolved and this book leaves the end open to interpretation. It is a mix of fantasy, unrequited love turning to hatred and bits of modern day life. A bit like the Gormenghast trilogy, it is timeless in that there are few clues as to when in time it is set. However there are some lovely bits of prose and interesting character switches.

I thought that I would really enjoy this book, but sadly this was not the case. I found it predictable and boring and not particularly well written.

Such an entertaining and charming book. The Charmed Wife was such a good book it was hard not to stay up all night reading!
