Exactly like the photo
I bought a Carine Marine Amber recently (a lovely pen), and have three much older black Experts with varying nicks and dents. This gold Expert is very nice. Smooth action, great balance, excellent hand feel. The color of mine matches the one in the photo. Pricey, but seems worth it. This and the Carine are my current carry pens. The older ones live in my office desk at work and my computer desk at home.

Beautiful but sad.
I manage to recover a Waterman Expert I purchased over 20 years ago. A beautiful green with gold trim. Works perfectly when I used it and worked flawlessly when my Father used it. The day he passed he wrote a cherished short note to me. I put the pen away for six years. Recently I purchased the new Expert with this special Ruthenium finish. Beautiful pen to make short notes in my particle physics books. The Ruthenium appears to have small scratches in the finish. So at first I wanted to return the pen but then thought that is not giving Waterman a fair shake. They make beautiful pens and are great craftsman for balance and feel while writing. Older people like myself can feel those little things because our hands are not as fluid with writing instruments. So, I am doing a replacement.

Very nice gift
Great graduation gift. Pen is substantial weight and very modern design, back and gray. Given to nephews the pens are quite masculine looking

Bon plume!
Which means "good pen", in France. And that it is.I got the black version because it just looks sleek to me. Like, the black finish and black chrome trim looks to me like something a Navy S.E.A.L. uses to leave a snide note on the corpse of some terrorist he terminated after he slipped out of the cold black sea in the dead of night and snuck up unannounced. Of course the search lights missed him because his black on black pen didn't reflect the light."Dear Terrorists. Don't mess with uncle Sam. Love, S.E.A.L. Team 6." And back into the icy depths he goes.Of course, this review isn't endorsed or sponsored by the US Navy OR S.E.A.L. Team 6. To be totally honest, I'm not even sure they carry pens on a mission. Or leave snide notes on corpses. But if they did, I like to think this would be one they use.Aesthetics appeal to different people for different reasons. This is the pen I want if I ever become a secret agent. Which, seeing as I'm already 50, is pretty unlikely at this point. But at least I have the pen.

Color is not matching at all
The actual color is at least 50% difference than the pictures shown. Not happy

4.5 STARS - A very good quality high-end pen but...
If you are new to high-end or luxury pens, you’ll notice that many of today’s long-established pen companies have a long history in the USA and France. In fact, during the late 1800s and the early 1900s, the competition among the pen industry was fierce. And one of the older pen companies is WATERMAN.Back in the early 1880’s, an insurance salesman in New York named Lewis Edson Waterman lost a big sale with a client because of a leaking fountain pen that leaked ink all over the contract. So in 1884, the insurance salesman turned pen salesmen, Waterman invented the “Three Fissure Feed” system which prevents excessive discharge of ink when a pen is in use. Waterman would file a patent for its first reliable fountain pen in New York: The REGULAR.In 1888, Lewis Edson Waterman would create the “Ideal Pen Company”, which would later be renamed to LE WATERMAN.The company would receive the gold medal of excellence at the “Exposition Universelle” in Paris in 1900. While Lewis Edson Waterman would pass away in 1901, his nephew Frank D. Waterman would become the new leader of the company and by 1904, WATERMAN patented the first permanently attached pen clip, so people could have the pen clipped to their pocket. In 1908, the company would release their first retractable-nib “safety” pen.But the company’s French connection would take place in 1926 as Jules Fagard created the JIF-WATERMAN company in France and the branch would manufacture WATERMAN pens in France. And in 1953, the company would introduce their new design of their WATERMAN clip inspired by a futuristic design of a missile. But while the New York-based company thrived in the late 1800’s, unfortunately their competitors gained the upperhand and WATERMAN in the US shut down in 1954. But the WATERMAN brand in France, continued to prosper. The company has been owned by several companies such as the Bic company, The Gillette Company and is now owned by Sanford, L.P., who also owns WATERMAN’s longtime competitor, PARKER. But to this day, WATERMAN is headquartered in Paris, France. And the company produces inexpensive pens such as their Waterman Graduate ($14.55) to higher-end pens such as the Waterman Expert Ballpoint Pen featuring a metallic black lacquer with ruthenium trim for $108.19.The WATERMAN Expert, according to WATERMAN, is “Hand-crafted in France, the collection features updated, modern finishes & a wealth of exquisite materials including rich, deep lacquers and fine engraving and a elegant nib that gives a smooth and effortless writing experience”.The WATERMAN Expert features “black ruthenium-plated trims, black PVD-coated stainless steel nib, and metallic effect lacquer and is, quite simply, made to stand out. Made in France, benefitting from Waterman’s in house craftsmanship”.The WATERMAN Expert is elegant but the black version is more gunmetal gray and while the pen is smooth, it is not as smooth as my high-end PARKER, but I do like it.The Waterman ballpoink ink refill are about $6 for one refill and is cheaper to buy one on Amazon versus buying a set of three. But overall, I do like the WATERMAN Expert and company has no doubt a long history and I do recommend it,

It’s an OK mid-tier ballpoint pen
This review is for the Waterman Expert Ballpoint Pen. I have mixed feelings about this pen. It is slimmer than what you often see in the more expensive ink pens, and has a really nice weight and balance to it. The Metallic Black Lacquer and Ruthenium trim is sleek looking, and has a comfortable feel when holding the pen. The medium point writes very well, and has a smooth glide, delivering the blue ink to the paper in very clean lines.Overall I like the functionality, feel, and look of the pen, and it is very giftable. But I do question the value. Unlike other relatively expensive ink pens I have used before, this one just doesn’t have that “wow, check that pen out” factor. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a nice pen, but to me it should be more than just nice. It definitely isn’t a 5-star pen. I’m giving it a 4, but it is probably more like a 3.5 when taking into account the relative value of the product.

Suavidad escritura, elegancia
Totalmente recomendable.
