Badass.
I pre-ordered this blade before it was available on the Tuo site, and used it for the first time today. Did not think Tuo could improve on the Falcon nakiri, oh, was I wrong. UNREAL. I would easily drop much more cash on this blade! Fit, finish, balance, SHARPNESS, ergonomics(if you look closely, the handle is slightly offset where handle meets blade, making this and all Tuo nakiri knives anti- fatigue and the perfect pinch grip) and aesthetically beautiful. Can't say enough about this company or their products. Only negative thing I can say is these blades are not for the novice they will remove body parts if not careful, knife skills required. Hats off to Tuo, doing it right for the Chefs that require quality tools day in, day out, and not breaking the bank. And btw, I'm not endorsed in any way, shape, or form, by Tuo or anyone else to review any cutlery. My 12 hour shifts are more than enough to give an honest opinion. Ciao.

Good knife but needs time getting used to
When I first got my hands on this knife, I was disappointed. The handle is heavy, the blade is too light. Not a well balanced knife. Those grooves embedded onto the blade made the knife look cheap. It looks like those you could buy off the roadside for $10.I started using it on a daily basis to see how good it is. The first few day were not great, I have to put in more force to cut and slice. I couldn't get used to it but I gave myself more time. After about 2 weeks of using, I got used to it and started to like it. Slicing and cutting got really easy; onions, roast pork bellies, watermelons, carrots, corn, chicken, etc. This knife is sharp, really sharp. The blade although thin, the primary edge held up and I haven't seen a tiny dent on it after using it for one and a half months. The grooves on the blade makes cleaning really easy other than preventing food from sticking on the knife (not very effective). Water doesn't really stick on the blade after washing.I think this is a bloody good knife but takes time getting used to. I may recommend to my friends and family but will give them my honest opinions first.Out of 10 stars, I would give it 8.5.

Cheap mass-produced knock-off of a knock-off
Knife preferences are incredibly subjective. I have a style and a feel that I like, but not everyone is going to be interested in the same knives as me. Still, I try to make sure that people have at least a little information that might keep them from getting taken advantage of. And believe me, there are knife companies out there trying to take advantage of you.So let's talk about this knife specifically. You can get knives nearly indistinguishable in design and of the exact same quality for half the price, if you look around sites like aliexpress. I could be wrong about the timing (I'm not a market historian or anything), but it seems to me that when Dalstrong started making tons of money by selling cheaply produced imported Chinese knock-offs of Japanese knives for over $100 with a flashy social media campaign and lots of meaningless hype terminology, scores of other generic brands started piggybacking off of that success. In the picture I've added to this review, I show three knife handles. One is this knife, one is from Dalstrong, and one is from another generic Chinese company. I didn't label them because it doesn't matter. They all look and feel basically the same. There are still a couple of companies selling knives at this quality level for what they're worth - I'd say somewhere in the $25 to $30 range. But most have apparently decided to place themselves somewhere in the middle between actual value and Dalstrong's abject insanity, and they're asking for $60 to $70 for a gyuto or similar. With this knife, (as well as the hundreds of other Chinese copies exactly like it) you'll get a sharp blade right out of the box. They know that first impressions matter. AUS-8 is a decent steel for knives, no real problem there. The blade design isn't great looking to me, the "seawave pattern" seems intended to approximate the look of a pattern welded blade ("Damascus" for those that prefer the misnomer), but it's just a pattern stamped on there that supposedly helps a little with food release. The G10 handle... I guess G10 sounds better than "plastic". It's just plastic. Dalstrong calls it "military grade G10" because of course they do. There's nothing special about it. That little design in the center, I don't know what's up with that. Tons of cheap Chinese knives have a very similar design on the handle, including the Dalstrongs. I don't know if their manufacturer started it and everyone started copying, or if they all use the same manufacturer for their plastic handles.Like I mentioned above, I really believe that Dalstrong (a Canadian company selling Chinese knives) and some of these Chinese companies whose names look like they picked a few random scrabble tiles out of a bag are trying to take advantage of people, particularly those that may not know what better options are out there. So I'll try to get you started:Like I mentioned above, sites like aliexpress or alibaba will have a HUGE selection of knives similar to this, and some of them will be a more appropriate price. Personally, I have a hard time recommending this because at that point, why not just spend a little more on a matching set with a knife block from Anolon or something like that? They're not great either, but at least they don't look like they belong in the hands of a 26-year-old spikey-haired skateboarder/chef that can't go four words without saying "bro".So what about if this ($60 to $70) is your price range? Well, for sure you can do better. Check out a site called "Chef Knives To Go", and in there look for "Fujiwara FKM". That's what I use every day. They're not super flashy, but the gyuto will run you about $70, they are elegantly attractive, they're actually made in Japan, the handles are pakka wood instead of plastic, and they're incredibly capable, well-made knives.

Ridiculously overpriced. Decent quality but better available for this price
There is nothing special about this knife. I got the bread knife, because it's the knife I use most besides my chef's knife and my santoku, and I could use a replacement for my old one. So it's fine for that purpose, it cuts bread, no problem. However, as you can see above this review, I got it for free. I would not pay $80 for this knife, having gotten and used it. There's nothing WRONG with it, but there are tons of knives available here on Amazon, and lots of other places, that are equal or higher quality for less money, so it just seems silly. The only reason I could recommend this knife over any other is if it looks the way you want, i.e. you are going for a specific look, or to match your existing knives that are this style. The steel is good quality, and since the handle is plastic you can wash it conventionally without worrying about ruining the handle. It has a nice weight, and feels nice in my hand.Additionally, right now, looking at the product page, it's $79 regular price with a $23 coupon, making it $56. OK. Even at that price, you can do better, but this is an ongoing trend I've noticed on Amazon where sellers post a coupon for an item to make buyers feel like they're getting a "deal", when I bet what is going on is they sell an item for a short period of time, getting reviews like this to move it up in filtered results, offering the "coupon" the whole time. This might be smart from a sales point of view, but just feels a little dishonest. I am not saying this is the case, it is just a theory of mine.

Comfortable Handle, Beautiful Blade Design
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. This knife handle is by far the most comfortable I've held; It has this smooth polished high density resin feel which compliments the beautiful blade design. The wave patterns on the blade are indentations and you can definitely physically feel the grooved surface; The mirror finish does give the blade a unique premium look.As for the blade design, this knife is perfect for medium sized vegetables and slicing; I like that the edge has a relatively flat curvature and is full length without a full bolster at the end. The metal spine is bit thick and not as thin as premium japanese blades; However, the thickness does give the blade good rigidity and straight cuts without curving the blade.I don't find the edge sharp as high end premium knives with surgical precision and there is some resisitance with the thickness of the blade; It's definitely sharp and cuts cleanly for majority the things I need like garlic and herbs. There is good balance while cutting and it has a nice comfortable secure feel.I appreciate the inclusion of the microfibre cloth as this blade needs to be polished and showcased; I reccommend using a soft non-stratch sponge to carefully clean it and not scuff up the mirror finish. The knife is short and does fit in my knife block comfortably without any clearance issues. The box does have a nice magnetic clasp which gives the entire packaging a high-end quality presentation.

Scary sharp vegetable prep tool - not for heavy chopping
This Chinese style cleaver arrived very sharp, with no burr or rough finish on the cutting edge. I found the cleaver to be handle heavy, but this isn't an issue when the handle is choked up on with a proper grip, and my wife really liked the balance, so this may come down to personal preference. This is a very aggressive prep tool, and is ideally suited to preparing vegetables - this is not a cleaver for chopping through bones or anything like that, but it effortlessly chops any veg we tested, and the wide flat blade makes for a safe and controllable cut. I was able to cut cleanly through a wooden popsicle stick with very little effort and minimal rocking of the blade. On the downside, I don't like the heavy G10 type handle, and I think the "wave pattern" milled/etched into the blade is far more garish and unattractive in person than it looks in the photos, but YMMV.

An beautiful cleaver in an exquisite package
This cleaver came very well packaged and the unboxing experience is second to none. If you wanted to give a knife as a gift, this is definitely a good choice with respect to presentation and giftability. The knife itself looks gorgeous and has a really refined look.As for the cleaver itself, I found it to be excellent. The knife is comfortable to hold, is nice and sharp out of the box and it's very easy and hassle-free to clean. At the current price of $53 after coupon, I think it is a great value.

The one knife my husband wanted
My husband always wanted to have a cleaver knife and he is quite pleased with this one.7 inches long, it is a great knife to use while cooking. It is very sharp and handles beautifully when cutting large pieces of soft bones and through thick pieces of meet. It can be use to crush garlic as well and scoop up chopped items.
