M3 Medium Tank: The Lee and Grant Tanks in World War II (Legends of Warfare: Ground, 24)

The M3 Medium of early WWII is one of my favorite tanks. The author has several books out on WWII military vehicles and vessels. He really does an excellent job of presenting the subject of the book. The detail may be more than some want but I found it excellent. This is not a history of the tank but rather an excellent illustration of the vehicle itself. The author obviously visited several restored museum tanks to give the reader a look inside and outside that the ordinary visitor would not be able to get. His photo books are a great service to those of us that are fascinated by the technology of this time period.

This is a good book on the M3 Medium Tank, especially when you consider the price. The book starts with the M2 Medium and covers variants and derivatives. A few color period photos are a nice plus as well as the color walk arounds. The period photos are great . ( of course we all want more.) It's a great companion to Doyle's Sherman series.

For the money, this series is absolutely superb. The historian knows his material, the illustrations are first rate and the book contains a wealth of information.
