Not much depth
i have purchased DK Travel books in the past and enjoyed them. This edition was a disappointment, however. Didn't seem to have as much depth and detail as past DK Travel books.

Inexplicably Missing Major Tourist Destinations Like the Rhine & Moselle Valleys
Inexplicably, this version of the DK Eyewitness Travel guide barely even mentions the Rhine or Moselle valleys - even more surprising given that the Rhine Valley town of Bacharach was the cover of their last edition, but is not mentioned even once in this guidebook. I feel like it is most likely an editorial mistake – that they almost completely removed mentions of either valley and don't even highlight either valley on their "Rhineland Palatinate and Saarland - Must Sees" map. The next page devotes two sentences to each valley - and then never mentions either again, while the Deutsches Weinstrasse gets a two page spread.Given this glaring editorial issue, leaving out two of the sites on what are on nearly every "Top 10 Germany" lists (including previous DK editions), I have to wonder what other major issues does this version of the guidebook have? I strongly suggest getting the 2019 guidebook again -- the one with the middle Rhine on the cover, and not the 2021 guidebook, where they have utterly forgotten an entire region of Germany.

Full description and photos of all the places you want to visit.
I like “seeing” the places I am going to visit, photos from the selection of DK guides I now have allow me to add destinations to my travels that I might not have known existed. These I find extremely helpful in planning my trips and I learn so much from them. Also their photos give me ideas for my own pictures. I take many during my trips and along with the tickets, postcards, and receipts I get, fill many photo albums. I can remember my trips, relive them, with DK a guide book.

Kindle edition bears scant relation to the printed book
DK travel guides as books are full of pictures, maps and aerial views, and are a pleasure to page through. The Kindle edition of the Germany guide is a bare bones dunned down version - a great disappointment.

I was expecting a bit more
Don’t get me wrong, I love eyewitness books and are the first and only ones I buy always when I’m traveling! I love them. However, I decided to buy this book to start traveling around Germany on my free time, and knowing the country better and comparing with the information from some cities on the book, I feel there’s a lot of really good information missing, mostly about touristic and historic places. Also found that one picture subtitle doesn’t match actually with the exact place where the castle is from. It’s small things of course and I won’t change my mind regarding the brand and the books BUT… for such price and name they could pay more attention!
