Q: What diameter is this line? I'm looking for something to use with my plumb bobs. Thanks!

I don't know the exact diameter. It is hard to measure because it is small and soft, but roughly 1/16". I'm not a tradesman, but it should be excellent for plumb bobs and similar general uses: it is strong, soft (no kinks), holds a knot well (but then harder to untie), and doesn't fray as easily as the twisted version. It is something like the inner strands of paracord, but braided.

Q: Is it coated with plastic

It is not plastic coated. Just made of nylon so it does not rot. I criss crossed it to make a cucumber trestle worked great.

Q: Does this work well outdoors? I want to use it in the garden where it will be exposed to sunlight for months.

Nylon breaks down in sunlight, but it will take a long time. "Long" is a relative term. Nylon is considered UV resistant. This will work well, but may need to be replaced in a few (2-5? My guess; May last longer) years.

Q: Would this fray (and then break) if it rubbed against brick?

More than likely, it would eventually fray and break, but I can't think of what wouldn't.
