I do quite a bit of camping and while I have a couple different gas cylinder type outdoor stoves my favorite way to cook my meals is using my collection of "Firebox" stainless steel stoves that operate just like this stove. I love my "FireBox" stoves but when I saw this stove on Amazon I just had to order the smaller model and check it out, especially for the price of just under $20 bucks. Well, the stove arrived today and I immediately unpacked it and set it up. I read other reviews that complained about having to remove the thin, blue film protective coating from the metal. I didn't find removing it difficult at all. I just went slowly and each panel of the coating just peeled right off without any problem at all. As soon as I inspected the stove I was immediately impressed with the sturdiness of the build, the overall fit and finish and how easily it opened and set up. The construction tolerances on the stove are very precise and it folds open and closes very smoothly and when you flip the inner fuel grate down into it's position it sits very firmly into a support bracket on each side. Once that is done the unit is very stable and ready for use. While I love my FireBox stoves, which have served me extremely well over the years, I will say that this stove has one advantage over the FireBox stove that I really like. On the FireBox stoves the opening to add fuel or canned heat sources is very small and requires that you constantly feed the fire with smaller type sticks and such and makes it difficult to build up a bed of coals for cooking. On this stove the door on the front of the stove, which you can lock in the closed position when not adding fuel, is very large and makes it extremely easy to add wood or canned heat sources from the front of the stove and it also is large enough to enable you to add much larger pieces of wood than I can put into my FireBox stoves. On the FireBox stove you have to insert a canned heat source from the top..... with this stove you can add it from the front which is MUCH easier. It also makes it much easier to add extra charcoal briquettes if you are using them. The door actually operates like the oven door on your stove. I really love this feature, just makes feeding the fire and building up a good bed of coals very easy. I don't know how they can sell this stove for this price but I am very impressed and plan on ordering another one so I'll have 2 stoves to run next time I go camping. I still love my FireBox stoves and they have served me very well, but I really have to say the features of this stove will have me using it as my first choice when it's time to cook. Buy this stove, you won't be disappointed. I forgot to mention..... the carrying case is very nice and makes it very easy to store and transport the stove. It folds up flat and slips right into the case

I love that it's so compact and easy to assemble. I'm not a fan of the wrap on every side and every hinge because it doesn't come off without a fight so some will eventually get burned off, and I don't like burning plastic.

This little thing is really cool, it’s been used twice and has held up well for its small and lightweight design. I purchased this because I didn’t want to have to buy propane or an accelerant everytime I wanted to use this little stove. I have to say the design is extremely cool and looks almost invisible in certain perspectives since the metal acts like mirrors on all sides. I really like that I don’t have to collect bulky logs either, the stove runs on sticks so my kids loved finding sticks in the yard and breaking them up to put in the fire. I can’t say wether it will hold up at this point but I will say I’d rather purchase more of these than something that runs on gas. It is definitely the biggest selling point.

While searching for prices on rocket stoves, this collapsable stove came up. To be clear, it’s not a rocket stove but it is a packable, storable wood stove that can be useful in camping. My wife’s comment on first seeing it was “cute.” I agree. It’s probably heavier than backpackers would want but that weight (1Kg,/2.2 lbs.) translates to a sturdy stove. As shown in the photos, it comes folded inside a zippered case and has a latchable door on the front for adding fuel. There’s a removable tray in the bottom to catch ashes. It arrives covered in a blue plastic sheeting that protected the stainless steel from scratching during manufacture. It’s a bit of a process to pull it all off, but I took that as a challenge and was soon done. I suppose you could burn it off but I wasn’t sure if there’d be a residue that would stick to the stove. I’m going to use the stove to fix my morning coffee, using only the twigs and small branches found nearby. For the price, I’m glad I have it.

It is small and compact you could only fit 6" in length skewers

This was given as a gift to my nine (9) year old Grandson for his Survival gear bag. The smaller stove is the perfect weight and size for his level of backpacking.First of all, the concept of this little stove is great and its exciting to anticipate using it!It has not been used for a fire yet so this review is based only on my assessment as I assisted in assembling it when it was unwrapped by my Grandson.Pros:- compact, light weight, and hopefully heat resistant enough for light, short cooking time use.- an easy open and collapsible type assembly.- the carry bag appears to be well made and is a necessity to keep stove from unfolding during transit and to contain the soot residue.Cons:- light weight metal sheeting may limit allowable fire intensity and burn time per use.-the biggest negative factor I found is that some of the metal edges are not rolled. These areas are extremly sharp and will be hazardous to the user when assembling and disassembling. I will be filing and then blunting the sharp areas down so the stove will be safe for our young campers to use.- and finally, as others have mentioned, the blue protective film which coats areas of the stove is so thin it is quite difficult to get off in many areas. Quite time consuming!

Little design quirks make it hard to keep feeding the furnace through the door because the handle gets very hot, but using coal/chunks of wood helps this a bit. With sticks, the flames are crazy high and it burns through fuel very quickly. If you can keep the fuel source burning evenly, it cooks pretty well.
