A powerful message of love and hope.
The Light Between Us chronicles the author's journey from childhood to self-realization as a psychic medium. While Laura Lynne Jackson became aware of her psychic abilities at an early age, and was encouraged by her family - and later, other psychics - to develop them, at times events would happen that would overwhelm her into retreat; the sudden and untimely death of a close childhood friend, of which she mistakenly thought she was supposed to prevent, and years later, being in the proximity of a plane crash and feeling the simultaneous terror of hundreds of people. A love for English literature and a knack for working with teenagers (thanks to her empathetic abilities) gave Jackson teaching to fall back on, and she happily settled into this fulfilling career while starting a family with her new husband. However, the urge to help others with her psychic abilities prevailed, and as she continued to do so, she realized that she could communicate with her clients' departed loved ones in the afterlife, or the Other Side, as Jackson refers to it. She learns that we are all connected to our loved ones through powerful, unbreakable cords of light, and that those on the Other Side remain by our sides, doing what they can to love us and guide us through our lives. Slowly, she gains confidence in her gifts, realizing her powers to help the bereaved, often paying special attention to parents who live with the pain of having lost a child. She is tested by scientists, who determine that her abilities are real. All of this goes on in secret from the faculty and students at the high school where she teaches, in fear that her work as a medium would be at the cost of her much-loved teaching position. When her secret finally comes out, she is met by her colleagues and students with acceptance and love. This book is excellent and worthy of five stars for many reasons: First, Jackson's writing style is clear and concise. The author studied at Oxford and has a degree in English Lit, and is a high school teacher, so basically...this is someone who really, really knows how to communicate in a way that is attention-grabbing and easy to understand, without dumbing anything down. Second, every reading that she recounts has the potential to resonate personally with the reader. If you've ever wondered where your loved ones are after they pass, if they are well, if they are watching you and sending love, and if they feel the love that you send out to them, this is by all means the book for you. Additionally, and very importantly, the author puts a face on a mystical and oft-misunderstood subject that is easy for just about anyone to relate to. This is not surprising, coming from someone who has tapped into the collective consciousness to such a high degree. Many people claim to be psychic, but Laura Lynne Jackson is one who is the real thing, backing up her abilities with proven science. Best of all, she believes (and I agree) that we all have a little bit of psychic in us - we just have to be open to it! She offers a few tips, and the first time that I asked for a sign from the Other Side, I got one within hours. This book affirms everything that I have come to believe over the years about life and death. In a world that currently seems very harsh and bleak on the surface, The Light Between Us will bring the reader a feeling of great hope for humanity. Knowing that there is a place of love and light, full of our loved ones who are rooting for us to be our truest and best possible selves is a great comfort indeed. There are lessons in here for both the believer and the skeptic. Read it, and your very consciousness just might make a change for the much better.

Beautiful message
I loved this book! Laura Lynneโs story about her evolution as a psychic and medium was fascinating. She clearly has a gift and she reminds us that we can call upon our guides and loved ones who have passed. I've had my own experiences that resonate with what she explains and describes. The chapters in Part 3 are especially moving and beautiful - the message that we are never alone and that love is at the center of everything. After my beloved husband died following a plane accident, I discovered that love and hope are the most powerful forces in the universe. I know that my husband guided me to find love again after he died. I found Laura Lynneโs story telling a very compelling way to share the deeper meaning of death and our connection with those on โthe other side.โ Very well written. My own story of finding inner resilience is to find people who inspire you. The stories in this book will inspire you. Itโs a good time to read them, given the current chaotic environment weโre in - to remember love, goodness and continual connection with those who we love.

What would the Church Lady say?
I grew up in a very strict Christian Church that poo-pooed any exploration of any kind that could possibly open the door for the devil to get you! (Boys and girls couldn't even swim together at church camp.) So it goes without saying that I have never believed that anyone could make contact with the dead. This book was very educational and changed my way of thinking. (I did not know that educated people actually study this phenomenon!) I have always believed that God does not want us to know exactly what the afterlife is like, and it is no doubt so complex that we wouldn't understand it anyway. The take-away for me was that it opened my mind to the very real possibility that he gives this gift to His chosen people to give us all hope that death is not to be feared, but embraced when it is "our time."I would give it five stars, but I still have that little place in my heart that fears the devil.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Light Between Us
I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Light Between Us: Stories from Heaven. Lessons for the Living. When I started reading it, I thought I was searching for proof of an afterlife. After a few chapters, I let the notion of scientific proof slide and allowed myself to become emotionally reeled in by the love-filled stories in the book. I cried, I laughed, I held my breath and I felt empathy for those who have lost loved ones and for Ms. Jackson herself.Though I enjoyed the whole book, I have two favorite chapters. In the first one, The Bonsai Tree, Ms. Jackson discusses the idea of free will versus predeterminism. She suggests that our lives include some of both. With regard to our direction in life, she says that the other side has shown her that, โIf we honor our truths, our unique gifts, and our own light, we create a very beautiful picture indeed. And if we consistently do this, we find ourselves on our true path.โIn my second favorite chapter, Entanglement, Ms. Jackson discusses the idea that we never alone. She believes that we are constantly making connections that we donโt realize exist and that, in fact, we are all connected. To illustrate this, she tells a touching story of a generous young man named Kyle. The book flows so well that it could easily be read in one or two sittings. I think that there is a lot to be gained by reading it at a slower pace and allowing oneself to more fully absorb the messages Ms. Jackson is offering to the reader. Iโm looking forward to following Ms. Jacksonโs story.

wonderful and uplifting read
If youโve ever wondered whether you have โthe giftโ or not, you will find this book to be helpful. It has solidified a few things for me personally. And even if youโre not wondering about that, it is still such a positive and helpful message in how to live your life in a more meaningful way. Stay open to all that is good in the world and to the messages that come your way from the other side.

Super Buch

wonderful
The book is enlightening, it is the story of a famous psychic medium who describes how she discovered her gift and how hard was the path to accept it entirely. The book is thrilling and interesting because it informs us there is a scientific organization which tests people to verify whether they are really able to connect with deads and to know everything pertaining a person who they haven't known before. This scientific organization has certificated only twenty people, throughout the US, who can read the life of people and talk with deads. The author has participated to many TV programs and is very famous therefore you cannot apply to her for a reading(which is the way they call to connect with deads and read the life of a person trying to solve their problems) because she is full of clients for years ahead. But if you connect to the cited scientific organization(whose name is "windbridge research center" you can find other psychic mediums and healers you can contact if you need

The Real Thing
This is an extremely honest, gentle and compelling account by a woman who questioned and doubted her own psychic abilities until the times caught up with her and she realised that what she had was a gift and not a curse.I picked the book because of the great reviews from world renowned spiritual masters and the fact that it was published by Penguin, which normally publishes only accredited authors. I was gratified to discover an authentic, moving and instructive autobiography that speaks of the author's lows as well as highs and the fact that she submitted her abilities to scientific enquiries time and again in order to bring her gift into the mainstream of spirituality -- as well as to ascertain for herself that what she has is the true blue thing. There are many lessons in this book that any reader could incorporate in his/her life -- such as the importance of forgiveness, of living true to oneself, of the fact that all creation is fundamentally connected....and many more all of which I thank the author for...they were very useful to me.Laura writes truthfully and modestly never pretending to be anything more or less than what she is...and she writes honestly about her feelings which are all-important in a book of this nature. As a Nichiren Buddhist for the last 25 years, someone who's incidentally based in Mumbai, India, I share with Laura the feeling that when one changes one's perception (or inner reality, as we like to call it) the world changes for us. Here, if I may add, I've worked hard at it for the last quarter of a century, chanting and cleaning up my darknesses and weaknesses, trying to improve my behaviour and trying to help other people in ways best suited to my attitudes, inclinations and abilities. Luckily I've had a Japanese mentor, the late Daisaku Ikeda, for the last 25 years to direct me as a beacon and guiding light. Not everyone is as lucky to be naturally spiritually gifted as Laura is but, as the author indicates, we all have our unique missions in life to fulfil.Thank you for this book. It gave me several days of reading pleasure. :-) ๐
