I've used IvyGlobal for many tests (I own a tutoring company) and they consistently have questions that match the style, content, and difficulty of the actual exam. This book is no different and is a solid investment for anyone who wants to prepare for the SSAT.

I wish there are more practice test inside the book.

It's very helpful and useful to my son!

We bought math and english, but the excercise provided were very basic. In fact the real test was way more advanced than the excercise provided in these books, which gave us a false percepcion in our test preparation. Didn’t help much for us.

This is a good study guide with lots of practice questions for students taking the SSAT. It starts with an introduction of how to use the book and some information about the SSAT. It then offers some important test taking strategies that are good for any test.The bulk of the book has about ten pages on how to attack math problems on a test and then review and lots of practice questions on the different math topics test takers are likely to see. It separates the subjects into Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, and Data Interpretation. Four topics seem kind of broad, but they are further focused within each chapter. The end of the book has answers for all of the practice problems.I think this is a good way to review for the test or just practice math skills in general. The subject matter is comprehensive and covers a lot of ground. I think this book would be better if it had a diagnostic test at the beginning and a final practice test at the end. It would give the student a better idea of both strong and weak areas and where to focus study efforts.

Intended for grades 5-7 and/or grades 8-11, you will learn best strategies for taking the test.There are division and multiplication drills to practice, ratios, word problems, algebra and more. There are links to helpful online videos to watch for better understanding. Charts and graphs are outlined in this book as well.Each section has a practice quiz with answers.This large softcover book is good for parents, teachers, and students alike. Start at the beginning and move through the book. Recommended for advanced middle school teachers. Good teaching tools and materials in this book.

This book provides a good set of practice problems for the SSAT but after I also bought the official study guide I felt the questions in this book were easier than the official ones. Still, if your child needs a large set of problems to practice on, this is a good place to build the foundations.

Positives:1) The book is well written with an introductory overview of the exam and general tips.2) It provides comprehensive coverage of the instructional topics for SSAT preparation.3) The exercises, question formats and difficulty levels are aligned to the actual exam.4) Includes links to online reference videos.Negatives:1) The included exercises are very limited. So you cannot use it as the only book for your preparation; it must be combined with other books.2) The format of the book doesn’t help you assess your weak areas/topics to focus and work on improving on those gaps in your understanding.3) It is recommended to start reading from the beginning; it’s difficult to directly jump to a topic in-between.
