RIO Products Mainstream Trout DT Fly Line - Developed for The Average Fly Fishermen - Easy Casting and Smooth Design - Floating Freshwater Line

The Rio Mainstream fly line I ordered is reasonably priced and suits my purposes very well. Fished with it today and encountered no issues. Now I'll see how it holds up. One observation: the line doesn't come with preformed loops on each end. A couple of nail knots aren't difficult, but would factory loops jack up the price?

Bought this to use on small mountain streams. Used on a small simple reel, there was much more line than the reel could handle. Decided to cut the double taper line in half, so have two for the price of one. Casting was more than adequate for the situations.

This is a well-regarded brand of fly line that is generally considered a good value. Local stores did not have this line with the particular specifications I wanted, so I looked for it on Amazon and bought it there. I wanted a fly line with the specs I was accustomed to, but the stores were catering to what is currently more popular. I use a lot of other RIO products with confidence.

Smooth casting high quality floating line. Does not cast as well as the Rio Gold XP but good for use on a backup reel.

Good product and brand. Worked fine for my new fly reel.

A very nice starter fly line from Rio, just like you would fight at Bass Pro or Cabela’s and, if I remember pricing, may be a bit cheaper!

Do yourself a favor and choose another brand of fly line. Rio's packaging consists of a recycled corrugate "spool" that instantly falls apart as soon as you open the package. Before you can even attempt to spool the line on a reel, you get to spend an inordinate amount of time unraveling the pile of line. The line itself may be great, but not worth the frustration . . . I'll be choosing Cortland or SA from now on!
