Celia Cruz, Queen of Salsa

Bought this book for my students. Absolutely wonderful and beautiful description of Celia Cruz’s life. Great buy!

I love the illustrations in this book. I love the story of Celia Cruz, Queen of Salsa. I was taken back to Cuba. While reading this, I saw this brown child-turned-one who could sing so beautifully. Perfect for a child or an adult who wants to be transported to Cruz' beginnings on one beautiful and often misunderstood Caribbean island.

Great addition to my classroom library to show diversity and recognize the importance of Ms. Cruz.

I’m so glad I bought this book to share with my students during Hispanic heritage month. What a fabulous story about Celia Cruz.

I use this book in my elementary Spanish classes during Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15 - Oct. 15). Some years I read it aloud to the students, followed by on-line videos of Celia herself. Other years, I assign a coop group to read the book, conduct research, and make a presentation about Celia Cruz to the class. The book is very appealing to the students and easy to read.
