Unique character twist! ❤️
I loved the twist Ms. Spade gave these characters as a human clashes with a dark god to create an enemies to lovers story.Steph is exactly the type of nerdy, quirky heroine I enjoy. She’s introverted and tends to get caught up in her work rather than live life, but she’s appreciative of her best friend’s attempts, and successes, to get her out of her comfort zone. I loved her reactions to Hades from their first meeting until she learned the truth about him. She was just so cute and perfect for the Dark Lord.Hades is the type of hero you would expect, except perhaps more grumpy than angry, which I adored! We didn’t have his point of view and I would have loved to know what he was thinking as he interacted with Steph. She was definitely the type of person he isn’t used to dealing with and getting a look into his thoughts would have been hilarious. Nevertheless, I did connect with him and felt his own torture at what his existence entailed.Together, Steph and Hades worked. The development of their relationship felt organic, which I especially enjoyed. The steam level doesn’t hit until later in the story making this a slowburn, but once it does, it absolutely burns the pages. This has a fast pace and a storyline that kept me engaged and moving forward until I reached the end. This was an amazing romance centered around Hades and includes a few other gods as well as other witty secondary characters to round it all out.

Outside
First off, I have to say I don't usually read fantasy or whatever category this may technically be under. However, with that said, I found this very enjoyable. I'm actually a little jealous over Steph. I have a thing for guys who are angry. Whether or not they're totally human doesn't make a difference. Anyway, back to the book. It started out kind of slow, but once it picked up, it was really good. I do wish that there was more information on Rupert or even Kevin or Guy. I realize they weren't really a part of it, but I wanted to know if Hades made them sick? What started the issue with Rupert? Did she get to talk to the guy who burned her house? There are so many questions, but maybe it's only me that cares? I still really enjoyed it & will continue on. Definitely recommend & if you're like me & wanting to dip your toe into the fantasy world, this would be a great easy start. On to the next!

Nice spin on the tale
I absolutely love Greek retellings. Hades and Persephone has always been my favorite and I’ve read many others before so I wanted to see how this one would be. This was fun, light, and witty. All the 80s references really gave light to Stephanie and Hades. I’ve never seen Hades powers personified as it was in this story which was very refreshing. When it came down to their true forms I couldn’t quite grasp it, I was imagining vampire elves for some reason, and the really climax of the story didn’t feel like a true climax, it just felt as if we were passing on by.I wish there was more urgency and pressure when we make it to the end. Also there were things left unsolved, especially between Thanatos and Hades. They have this huge mega fight with Thanatos literally wanting to kill Hades to escape and then after... nothing. Not a “hey sorry I tried to kill you,” nothing of the sorts. It would have been nice to have some closure with Stephanie’s father as well, it was a missed opportunity the author could have done to give Steph some dimensions. Also the attempt at Hades southern accent was so cheesy I’ve seen better southern accents than that but this isn’t a bad read just wished it was executed a tad bit sharper than what it was because it had potential.

Cute and Lighthearted Re-Imagining with a Twist
RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️SPICE:🌶️While the book started out a bit slow for my normal taste once we finally meet our MMC I found this book to be so adorable and lighthearted. The characters felt so real with lighthearted moments and sarcastic but cute jabs and comments at each other it was a beautiful re-imagining of the Hades and Persephone myths creating a new love story between Hades and our FMC, Stephanie about finding the one person who can see the real you and love you as you are.I absolutely loved it! Something I could definitely feel myself re-reading.

An enjoyable start to a modern Greek mythology retelling series
RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐STEAM: 🔥🔥.5I am always in for a Hades/Persephone retelling, so this was an immediate add to my TBR.Stephanie Costas is taking a much-needed vacation to Greece. What she did not expect is to run into actual Gods during her trip. When she catches the attention of a certain Underworld God -- who is mourning being left by Persephone -- she also finds herself intrigued by Hades. This was definitely a fun read. Carly Spade did a great job of making the Gods more relatable. The idea of broody Hades being sent on vacation by his own brother to shake off his break-up was entertaining. There were a couple of awkward moments, but Spade made up for it with an action-packed climax. This is a sloooow burn. While I felt like it was necessary, I wished there were more moments from them to really drive home their connection.Overall, I enjoyed the book and look forward to the stories about the other Gods.

Simple sweet romance
Book arrived in great condition.I admit, I didn’t expect to like this book so much. It is simple, romantic and sweet in the best way possible. The story gives us a heartbroken king of the underworld and a clumsy and secluded workaholic young woman with an obsession with 80’s music and the movie “Dirty Dancing” who have this magnetic pull towards each other since the first moment they meet. This book is definitely a slow burn romance and what I would consider a cozy read, since there’s not much physical action or conflict for the first 50% to 60% of the book, still is a cute and fun light read.4/5 ⭐️’s

amazing
This was such a great read a wonderful take on the telling of Hades and his queen of the underworld. I was captivated. I literally couldn’t put this book down and finished it in a matter of hours. I loved the characters the playful way they developed. The seriousness of the scenes evolved at the perfect pace. I didn’t feel like the story was rush it was literally such a perfect read. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author. I would highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys mythology as it is an excellent adaptation. But it puts a new twist on it that makes it so enjoyable.

interesting
It’s a good read, a very slow burn, and a bit slow to start but a lot was needed to introduce the characters and the world. I liked that Steph needed time to come to terms with things, and I loved that Hades didn’t let mythology repeat itself. It’s a fun read.

Good as a palate cleanser in-between epics.
I've certainly read better but the book feels betwixt and between, neither unputdownable/drool-worthy nor unbearable. The lead characters' intimacy somehow felt not right. Unsettling. Confusing. Like something was missing from the get go. But with a little stubbornness, I could get around it so... Also before Hades, our narrator was in a relationship with a guy named Snake. Hilarious!

Perfect balance of romance, mystery and mythology
This book is the perfect balance of romance, mystery and mythology. The characters are very well written and bursting with life. I lost count of the amount of times I laughed at comments made by best friends Steph and Sara. This book was one I just could not put down and I loved every second of it. Ever get that sad feeling when you've finished a book? I have that now and I really want more! An amazing read.
