ACANAFreeze Dried Dog Food & Topper, Grain Free High Protein Duck Recipe, 14oz

We've been using Acana food for our two pups but have decided the fatter one, Zeus (125 lbs), should lose some weight and so switched his to light and fit from the meadowland variety we were feeding him.I should say first, there isn't really anything that I saw aside from the name that says this is for weight loss or maintaining a healthy weight however, a comparison of the caloric content between the two foods showed the light and fit did indeed have less. 348 kcal/cup vs 392 kcal/cup in the meadowland. Their recommended feeding chart aligns pretty well with our vet recommendations to help our big guy lose some weight.Now we could feed him less of the meadowland to meet the cal goal but Choosing a lower calorie food allows us to feed him a little more and seems less like starving for him. Overall it seems to be working, he's down about 5 lbs.Ingredients: I won't bore you with an ingredient list but I recommend you look at it and compare it to other foods, I think you'll be surprised. This stuff is legit.Taste: while I'm not speaking from personal taste experience here, I can definitely say that my doggos love it! I've used various flavors, red meat, light and fit and meadowland and they love all of them. They've never eaten any food like they eat this. in the past we've used taste of the wild, 4health, blue buffalo, Purina pro plan and none of them come even close.It's made in the USA! Down yonder in KentuckyPrice... It's not cheap, but nor is it cheap food if you understand me. Made in the USA with quality ingredients and better nutritional ratios, less carbs. It's fairly priced considering. Many pet food brands will substitute vegetable proteins for animal proteins in order to keep the numbers up and their cost down, by doing so they deprive our K-9 friends of the essential nutrients, amino acids that are only obtained through their diet.Lastly, there's a class action lawsuit claiming dangerous levels of heavy metals in Acana foods. But do your own research. Mine had led me to believe it's a bogus claim, I feel confident enough to feed it to my dogs, whom I love dearly. We recently had a blood panel done on Zeus and everything is fine! This is a company who's never had a recall... Not one.I've attached a picture of my Zeus because dogs are amazing and they brighten just about everyone's day! He's 11 and is doing great by the way.So yeah, it's not cheap, I get criticism from friends and family... The "I've always used cheapo food and my dogs are fine" argument comes out every time. Well my dogs are part of our family and they deserve good food the same as their bipedal siblings.

I use this kibble as training treats for my staffy/bully mix, and I stuff kong toys and slow-feeders with it. It's a good supplement to her wet food that she has for her main meals. I stick it to the shower wall with peanut butter to lure her into the bath. She does anything and everything I ask her to for this kibble. I'm training her to be my service animal, so having treats she loves is vital. Her poo is healthy and the odor isn't terrible. Her skin was a mess when I adopted her and now it's healthier than any sensitive breed I've known, especially in the summer in the American South. A 25 pound bag lasts me a few months (3-4), so the price-point isn't bad. To save money, she eats a dehydrated human-grade food that I rehydrate for her main meals. This kibble comes in a foil-lined bag, so it doesn't get stale. This is the only kibble I could find under $100 that doesn't have corn or other fillers that I'm allergic to. I'm really thankful this kibble is available at an affordable price, and that it works so well for my animal companion.

I have a Westie and Shih TzuWestie eats everything but my girl Shih Tzu picky as hell :) first time for a while she empty the bowl ,I just ordered the poultry one as well to see which one they like it better .Great quality dog food

I’ve been using this dog food, specifically the Chicken Turkey and Egg mixture, for about 4 years, for my two twin Labradoodle girls.I switched from Fromm after one developed an allergic reaction (skin) and another yeasty, itchy ears. I tried several different expensive brands and mixtures to no avail until Acana.I use the Acana by itself for their breakfast, and for dinner mix it half with home-made food I do in the crock pot once every week or two (olive oil, chicken, beef or turkey, veggies (sweet or white potato, spinach, green beans, etc) and sometimes rice.They eat it up for both meals. If for some reason I’m out of home made food, they’re happy to have just Acana, but I like cooking fresh food for them :)Their coats are shiny, they shed less (I know, “labradoodles don’t shed” lol yes they do, just less than Labs or other retrievers) and no yeasty feet or ears. Their skin is very healthy and doesn’t get nasty in-between grooms.Best of all no allergies, good solid poops, and very energetic dogs. They’re 9 years old and still act like puppies (but with better manners, ha)Try Acana- I think you and your dog will love it.Thanks for reading my review!

My 10 year old golden retriever has loved all of your grain free & high protein food for eight years. You make top quality food that has kept him healthy for a long time.Unfortunately, in the last two years, with the enormous price increases - 25-30% higher since 2019 (undeniably a major inflation issue & a horrible economy due only to the current administration) - I can no longer afford you.We moved to 4health grain free from TSC. My boy loves it. It's a top quality product, comes in 30 lb bags, & is WAY less expensive than your product. Their non-foil packaging happens to be more environmentally conscious too.We're sad to part ways, but it's financially necessary.Bye Bye Acana

I was impressed with the ingredients in this food. The dogs absolutely love it and the price is pretty good for what you get. I would highly recommend it.

I like the subscribe and save. We purchase 3 cases per month. The only problem we have encountered was due to careless handling somewhere along the way. Someone must have tossed the package which managed to partially tear off the pop top off of one of the cans....................this resulted in oozing of the dog food all over the rest of the order. It was a nasty mess with funky odor and actual flies inside the box.Customer service, however was wonderful and a replacement is on the way. Wish the cans had regular lids which would stand up to rough handling during shipping.Love the product!
