Yet another "dangerous" guy reeled back by fluffy romance
Okay, so this is what I want to read next. A serial killer whose past has nothing to do with abuse. He actually comes from a nice family and he is just really freaking insane (okay, the author did get the insane part right). I want a story where rape is a line that is actually crossed. That the heroine has no prior attraction or romantic feelings for.Basically, I want an actual f-cked up story where the lines are pushed beyond acceptable and not reeled back with fluffy romance in the end. Because that's what this story was.Beware, I am going to spoil this story to bits so if you don't spoilers, you know where the back button is.The story is about a girl who is disowned by her family after finding out some horrible secret relating to what her father does and how her rich lifestyle is paid for. Her friend/roommate's dad is in on it too so the girls are disowned and forced to live the hard knock life of common folk.So one night, her roommate and she go to a club to party. They have a hard time getting in until the club owner comes and lets them in. Turns out the owner is a guy she met a year before she was disowned and they shared a brief but hot encounter. She meets the club owner's awkward "brother" and kind of has some attraction towards him. The next day, she gets this infamous email from the city's notorious killer "sociopath" which implies she is his next kill. She goes to a guy named "Dominic" Scott for help because before she left her family's home, the housekeep or whoever she was, gave her a card saying that if she is ever in danger to call the guy on the card. The guy who answers the door is the club owner from the previous night "Damian" and he is pretty rude, but invites her in and goes to get his "brother".He agrees to help her and decides to take her back home in his car where they share a kiss and make out session. She goes to work that night where she has a horrible run-in with the bar's security guy who tries to rape her but she gets away and then "sociopath," who has been stalking her since before the email was sent, beats the guy. "Dominic" comes and she goes home with him.The next day her friend is brought up on some drug charge that is related to some new modeling job she got but it also has something to do with "sociopath". He makes a deal with her that if he lets her friend go, she has to come with him and if not then her friend can go to jail. She chooses her friend and has an argument with "Dominic" about it who then decides to go down on her, but when she comes she screams out his brother name "Damian".The next day when she wakes up, she is in a different room and finds out she has been captured by "sociopath". He actually comes into the room and it is none other than........ Damian. She starts to panic, realizing she has had a thing for a serial killer but then asks what happened to his "brother" Dominic and if he killed him. That makes him mad and he leaves."Dominic" is being questioned by the housekeeper who has met the girl and became alarmed that she had met his "brother" Damian. She is nowhere to be found in the house and the housekeeper wants to know where she is but all "Dominic" is saying is that she is gone. He then calls her friend/roommate with some BS story about how she needs to stay away from the heroine to keep her safe. The next day Damian/Sociopath have breakfast with her followed by a makeout session. Then later that night they sleep together. Then the next day he leaves to go kill another victim and leaves a laptop open that shows her what he is doing to the victim. Then she learns that Damian and "Dominic" are victims of the sick children molestation ring that her father is part of and that "Dominic" actually died during that time in their life.Yes, Damian/Sociopath has been parading around as his dead twin brother, the whole time.He comes back later in the day and she accuses him of being no different from the guys who kidnapped and hurt him as a kid. That makes him mad and he leaves. She then goes to his room and they sleep together. The next morning he takes her to New York and tells her she made him mad by comparing him to the guys who hurt him and his brother and that she has a choice to be with him or leave. She leaves. For six hours. Comes back, tells him not to hurt her father and that he can just send him to jail for what he did. He agrees and they sleep together. She gets knocked up, but her dad kidnaps her and him and then, in the end, Damian apparently dies.Okay. That's the story that isn't in italics. The italic chapters are the backstory of when she and Damian first met after she was kicked out of the house and the brother's backstory and their time in captivity. None of which I read because my interest decreased at an alarmingly fast rate so I had to pick and chose what to read and I chose the non-italics.This story sucks. The last time I read a child molestation/ revenge story, it was great and sadly gave me my biggest and worst book hangover ever. Looking at you [author:Skye Warren|5339130] for that great Crimmials and Captives series.I was actually kind of enjoying the book when she got in the house. Trying to figure out which brother was the killer and if the other really was clueless about the other brother's secret life. It also seemed like for a moment there was going to be a love triangle going on, which would have made it more interesting with the secret identity, killing element in the mix.But no, that would have been too hardcore. So instead she went the serial killer who only kills because of revenge and is actually a big old softie for his gal.Okay. *Goes to get refund*.

Full of repetition and directional issues
I wasn't sure who I was supposed to be reading because the author would write SOCIOPATH and then it would be Sapphire's POV. This happened several times. It became tedious. Not to mention all the repetition: CAN I ASK YOU A QUESTION? I asked... Things of this nature, sprinkled all throughout. And JUST all the JUSTs everywhere I look is JUST another JUST and one would think the author could check for these things or had an editor or a friend who could check for these things. JUST try.And a little heads up or a TRIGGER WARNING would be nice that there is RAPE OF CHILDREN IN YOUR BOOK would be nice next time. I wanted to cut myself. Nobody needs THAT MUCH INFORMATION.One star. If I could get away with NO STARS, I ABSOLUTELY WOULD, but that's life. Right?

OMG I absolutely loved this book! It's been a while since I've read a book that has left me giddy, excited and extremely wound up as soon as I finished it. This book was extremely twisted and perverse and I loved every dark minute of it. Is it wrong that part of me finds Sociopath a turn on? LOL! This book grabbed me from the first sentence and just kept pulling me in deeper and deeper with each dark and twisted thing that happened. This book is basically about a man (Sociopath) that is out for revenge against people that did him wrong as a child and falls for his main "target's" daughter and becomes obsessed with her. This book is full of twists and turns and is extremely emotional with themes and situations that are not for everyone. If you like twisted, perverse and dark situations then by all means sit back, relax and enjoy the crazy ride! Ends on a major cliffy that has been biting at the bit for the next book!

A DARK, Thriller.
This book isn't a stand-alone.It's DARK themed as it revolves around human trafficking, namely children. Also there are flashbacks to these torturous times with these things happening. This book is told in Sociopath and Sapphire's POV.This book is hard to do without spoilers past the blurb. So you're just getting the basics.Sapphire grows up naive and lonely. She later finds out the reasons for this and disowned from her family.Sociopath was abused as a child and is on a mission for retribution, which doesn't quite make him a psycho to me. Makes him a man that live a up to his words. This book jumps from present to past. They're marked and easy to follow. There were a few times when things (I thought) were wordy came into play later.Other wise I enjoyed this book. The story and plot paced out. I loved the alpha and heart (in his own way), that Sociopath brought to the story. There weren't any grammatical errors that jumped out at me which is always a plus when reading a new author. This is definitely a book I have to go on to book two with. That ending...I would recommend this book.Book two is out at the time of this review.

Another hit by V.F. Mason 5++Stars....
I am so glad I discovered V.F. Mason. This is a dark romance that captured me from the first page. It's an emotional story that broke my heart at times, made me angry at times and made me fall in love with a man that was a monster. He falls in love (if he knows what love is) with a beautiful woman, she becomes his obsession and nothing will stop him from having her. You have to read this book and discover what is behind this monster man. Then continue on with Sociopath's Revenge.

Not to dark
First part of the Sociopath’s Duet and we meet Sociopath aka Damian and his Obsession Sapphire. For a V.F. Mason book this was on the lighter side of dark.I really enjoyed Sapphire. I loved how she adapted to her new life and it confused with her feelings for Damian and Dominic.I did see the twist coming, but it didn’t mean that I didn’t enjoy this book. I did notice that this was one of her earlier books. Her writing style has become better. it is more flowing in her later books.

Gripping!
Gripping books, couldn’t put this or the sequel Sociopaths Revenge down. Haven’t read books in years but these have got me back into reading again and will be seeing what other books V.F.Mason has written. Very well written, really could feel the characters in the book.
