hope to use it soon.

good reference but comes up short
The course descriptions are very good. There are too few lodgings listed and little/no detail on most. Pubs/restaurants are also fewer than expected. The book would also benefit from an index and a map(s) showing the location of all courses.

Did not meet purpose for which it was purchased
My wife and I have been planning a golfing holiday in Scotland. We do not know Scotland well or its golf courses and we therefore purchased this book. It proved to be of little value. The major weakness is that there is no map showing the location of the courses that are described. The one map that is included does not include any reference to the areas that are covered in the text . One is reduced to looking at a road map to find a golf course then looking in the book to find if it is covered - which it generally isn't as less that 50% of the course are included in the book. It would have so easy to include a proper map in the book and thus meeting the, not unreasonable needs of people like my wife and I. A waste of money.

The perfect golfing Scotland book, with or without partner
I completely disagree with the lesser review. Yes, there could be more detail on some locations, but the interweb is there for a reason! This is an honest and reasoned assessment of many of the superb courses we have in Scotland, which unusually is not solely written from a non "red tee" perspective, and is all the better for this.I have never come across any golf book that covers the reality of a golfing couple seeking great places to explore together. In fact, this is great anniversary, St Valentine's material. This book is a pleasure and a bargain, like many of the courses included.

Covers Overlooked Courses
Really covers courses that may be often overlooked. I like the color on pubs, clubhouses, and nearby activity. Mapping could be done do make this more useful.

It is honest, highly informative and most useful.
It is not often you find a golf book that tells you "as it is". This one certainly does. Many thanks.
