Cheap at thrice the price
Siding installers trashed one of my Google cameras and I was tempted to replace it with another of the same make / model. But this little guy caught my eye with its pan and tilt capabilities, solar panel, and very low price for all that. Indeed, the price seemed too good to be true so I almost passed it by. After reading the reviews, however, I swallowed hard and made the leap. And I am truly glad I did. This camera may be inexpensive but it is far from cheap.Physical installation is so simple as to require no discussion except to say that four thumb screws make it so easy to mount and dismount from the mounting bracket that the wrong folks might be tempted. Beyond that, the only real question mark was where - not how - to install the solar panel.I wanted to minimize the solar panel so as to not attract unwanted attention. The manual cautioned, however, that good results required that certain parameters be observed. As a result, I was stymied for a bit. I finally concluded that I really did not care. After all, I could easily recharge the battery via the USB interface any time it became necessary. I could even make that charging interface permanent if I so desired. So, in the end, I tucked the panel flat into a cranny between a pair of fencing boards near the house. I still need to stow the cable but we will wait until ongoing exterior repairs are complete to do that. Even as it sits, however, the panel gets full sun about 60 percent of the day and, so far, the battery indicator has never indicated anything other than full.As for the pan and tilt that caught my eye in the first place, these work quite well and exactly as you would expect - with one possible exception: there is a slight delay between issuing a command and the camera's movement. I have seen this slight delay with other wirelessly networked devices but for reasons I cannot explain I found this to be disconcerting in this camera initially. The best, but inadequate, analogy I can offer is that it feels more like driving a boat than driving a car. I soon became accustomed to the slight delay, however, and now barely notice it.And, yes, there were other parts of the interface that seemed a bit clumsy at first. I guess I just had to make the transition from my Google camera interface, however, because after less than a week I was quite comfortable with it. And that includes the history interface that stymied me at first.History is something we have found to be quite useful with our Google cameras. Coupled with Nest Aware cloud storage, our Google cameras have afforded nearly unlimited video history. We have used it to good advantage on multiple occasions, the two most notable being a car theft and a car rear-ending a motorcycle in front of our house. The Nest Aware service also does a great job of analyzing movement and categorizing it as animal, person, etc. I have not yet tried the similar cloud services offered by ieGeek so I cannot comment on that. I do very much like, however, the ability to store up to 128 megabytes of history on the optional memory card. I am wondering, however, as to how well six-second, motion-activated recordings will fare in situations such as I mentioned above. I remain hopeful that there are options, cloud or otherwise, of which I am not yet aware. Finally, email support has been extremely responsive, extremely courteous and extremely helpful. And I do not use the word "extremely" carelessly. If you are like me, you will have to see it to believe it so I will leave it at that.In closing, even the happiest customer always wants "just one more thing." And what do you always want to do after you pan / tilt a camera and finally have the nearly perfect view? Optical zoom! The digital zoom on my ieGeek 5MP camera beats my lower-resolution Google cameras hands-down. Nevertheless, an optical zoom would still be a treat! And why not? If an inexpensive camera can offer an expensive feature like pan and tilt, why not optical zoom? Just kidding. Maybe.

Versatile Battery / Solar PTZ Camera
One of the features that I like about this camera is that it runs on a battery and does not need power. It can be charged by the included solar panel, or it can be plugged into a USB charger using a standard USB cable. I found that it does not need to be charged very frequently. Battery usage depends on the amount of motion that is detected and the length of video that is taken. This lets me setup a camera on my property as long as I have a wifi signal available. I use a mesh network with multiple access points so I have good coverage over a wide area outdoors on my property. Not having to run electric power to this camera is a definite plus! This camera has both nighttime infrared and visible lights. It also has a siren / alarm feature. You can add a microSD chip into the camera which will allow it to record video and pictures based upon motion detection.Setup is easy using the CloudEdge app on your phone. Using the app on your phone you can configure the motion detection and video recording. The are three options for nighttime: Intelligent Vision (which turns on the warm lights for full color at night when motion is detected), Full color night vision (which turns on warm lights when you view the camera at night), and Black and white night vision (which only uses the infrared lights). For alarm management you can set the motion detection sensitivity and the amount of video to record when motion is detected. You can setup a time period when alarms are active. You can also specify the visual area that is the alarm area. Motion detected only in this area will trigger the alarm. Alarms can be silent (video and picture only recorded), or you can setup a audio warning and strobe light alarm (only at night).Instructions are provided in the app on how to connect the camera so that it can be linked to Amazon Alexa. When this is done, it is possible to ask Alexa to "show the *** camera on the TV". Alexa can then show the video from the camera on your Alexa controlled TV. Unfortunately this doesn't always work, sometimes the connection is disabled. The camera has a microphone and can record audio. There is also a speaker so you can activate the speaker and talk using the app. Speaker volume and quality are ok. Quality and volume level are not the best.Picture quality is good for the price, however the zoom is a digital zoom. It is not an optical zoom. If you zoom too much, the picture becomes blurry.Given the price this is a camera that can be put to a lot of different uses. As long as you have wifi and your need is for basic functionality, it can be used as a trail cam, security camera, a monitoring and alarm camera, a door camera, etc. I have used this camera both indoors and outdoors. At this price you can afford to get multiple cameras. The camera comes with a 12 month warranty, and if you fill out a form you can extend the warranty to 24 months. I've been using ieGeek cameras for several years now. Haven't had any problems with any of them. Iegeek has made improvements and has added features to their cameras. For example the siren, warm lights are some of the newer features.I've found ieGeek customer service to be responsive and helpful. For example, a recent upgrade to the app caused a problem. A quick email to customer service let me know that the issue was being fixed and an upgrade was quickly available.

Wifi signal must be close to camera to work
I purchased the two-pack cameras and the setup went smoothly for one camera--see below for my oops. The pictures were clear and the sound was clear. I really liked the clarity.Con: The camera MUST be within a short distance of your Wi-Fi router for operation, and for that reason, the placement areas we wanted to use these cameras won't work. I did not realize that would be an issue before I purchased them. Please note my mistake: I locked up a camera because it was doing an update from the camera app on my cell phone. When I went to multitask the other camera and logged into the camera app on another device with my user login, the camera's update stopped—I could not get it to restart or reset to factory--it was unalive at that point. IF you see your camera doing an update, don't be like me, be patient and let it finish! lolPlease note: You can only have ONE login at a time (cannot use the same login on another device at the same time). However, you CAN grant another user--separate camera login ID--full access to the camera (spouse) and they CAN access the camera at the same time with their login.

very good cameras
It has a very good resolution, and the best thing is that I don't need any power; they charge themselves with just sunlight. Super necessary to keep an eye on my home.
