Fixes all my Apple Cinema Display issues with new MBP16 Intel and latest macOS
This adapter not only made my two old adapters obsolete, but everything now works as it used to over 12 years ago!!! I am very happy. Brilliant piece of kit. It does exactly what it says in the blurb!! I could be mistaken because I am so happy, but I am convinced the colours are also brighter. Some background...I have an old 30" Apple Cinema HD display which has seen numerous changes to display connectors and thus had two daisy chained adapters to go from dual DVI to mini DP to usb-c. As far as I am concerned this is the best monitor around for software development. The quality is outstanding as it was manufactured when Apple still produced hardware that would last forever. Consequently, I was dismayed that the latest MBP with the latest macOS does not recognise an external monitor is connected after a reboot. It does during the startup process, but the moment it comes to display the logon screen, it forgets and the monitor goes black. I have to pull the usb-c plug once or twice after every re-boot which cannot be good for it (wear and tear). Also, with the daisy chained adapters the power button never worked which I liked to use to quickly turn off the monitor while large compiles continued in the background.Out of interest, when I boot into Windows 10 BOOTCAMP, windows does not exhibit such problems. So I believe macOS is partly to blame for my troubles, but then windows had always had better backward compatibility. One additional reminder...To achieve the full resolution for your monitor, hold down the alt key when clicking the "Scaled" option in display preferences, just as the blurb suggests. If scaled is already selected and not all resolutions are displayed, first switch to "Default for display" then hold the alt key and click "Scaled". This is a macOS issue, not an adapter issue, as Windows 10 in BOOTCAMP displays the correct list of resolutions without having to press any additional keys.

Beware DCHP on older Apple Cinema 30 inch
Purchased specifically for my 2004 Apple Cinema HD 30 inch display… previously had been using with a 2014 MacBook Pro via a “Mini Display Port to Dual Link DVI” adapter (which is a bigger adapter that also requires a USB A port to work.)Upgraded to M1 Mac Mini and amazed that all I needed was this simple (and cheap) adapter to get up and running at full resolution via USB-C / Thunderbolt.BUT WAIT!Tried to watch purchased HD iTunes content and get the error message that my monitor isn’t HDCP compliant…. Ditto when trying to stream anything on Disney+Never an issue with my previous adapter.Had to return this and get a ‘Club 3D CAC-1510-A USB C to Dual Link DVI-D Adapter’ which is three times the price :(Epilogue: if your 30 inch Apple Cinema HD Display is the 2007 refreshed version, then it’s HDCP compliant so this adapter will work.

It works!
I bought this as I needed a solution to get my old-but-perfectly OK Dell 30" DVI only monitor working with my work laptop.Dell laptops don't have DVI out any more and a DVI to DP (DisplayPort) adapter does not provide DVI-D (Dual Link) capability - so the monitor would not display 2600 x 1600 native resolution. This gadget worked straight away. FAB!Alas it didn't work with a Dell D6000 USB dock (which has a USB C port), which was my main hope.It seems a good quality product in terms of build quality, so I'm happy with it.

Works with 23” Apple Cinema Display (non-HDCP version) and Mac with USB-C
If, like me, you have one of the original 23” Apple Cinema Displays then in the switch to USB-C you’ve probably encountered the problem of finding an adapter that will let you continue to use it with a new Mac. (I like the extra 120 lines over a 1080p monitor)Another USB-C to DVI adapter I tried would briefly show a picture and then cut out, continuouslyt in a loop. That seemed a lot like what would happen if HDCP, the HD content protection mechanisms, were getting in the way and that’s when I learnt that the earlier revisions of the display did not support HDCP.Although the 23” model is just single-link, my older model happily works with this adapter and a MacBook Pro (2019 version). It takes a few seconds for the picture to come on, after a screen sleep, but it works great.

A solution that works!
Had been looking for a while for a guaranteed solution to connect a perfectly functional 30” Apple Cinema Display HD from circa 2007 to a 2019 Thunderbolt 3 MacBook Pro. As the display is Dual-Link DVI, this was proving to be expensive (trying to source a discontinued DVI-DisplayPort adapter) and unproven (then connecting to a DisplayPort-Thunderbolt 3). I was almost ready gamble the required nearly £120, when I saw this solution. Works perfectly! Just remember to go into the screen settings on the MacBoo Pro to set the max 2560x1440 resolution for the 2nd screen.

Works with Apple Cinema 30 and MacBook Pro 2017
After trying other solutions (USB3->Display Port->Apple DP-DVI cable->Cinema30) that did not work, was great to find this adapter works perfectly.

Useable and ok for the price, but some noise
It’s plug & play, and works at 2560 x1600 as claimed. There’s a little bit of white flickering noise, mostly visible in dark areas, but as a simple and cheap solution to hook up my Mac Mini M1 to an old Cinema display, I’m happy enough with it.

it woks with macbook air just fine
the HDMI out works really well. The rest seems OK also. A nice well built bit of kit.
