BOSCH HC2089 1/2 In. x 37 In. x 39 In. Bulldog SDS-Plus Rotary Hammer Bit, Gray|Grey

I manage a manufacturing company and I have workers who are like the gods of destruction. Walls are always the first victim an I needed to bolt down some heavy duty guards as I wanted to stop buying dry wall and patching up the walls... I found this drill bit for my SDS plus hammer drill and started my work. I read reviews from others, but maybe because I have such a thick drill bit, I never experienced what others experienced yet. The bit never broke midway through, nor has the drill tip changed shape or whatever else I've seen. I'm nowhere near down protecting the building but I have already drilled out nearly 50, 5-inch deep holes with this drill bit and there's barely any sign of wear and tear. At the same time though, I have a bucket of water to cool down the drill bit to prevent the heat from changing the shape and I constant check to make sure I'm drilling straight in the same direction to prevent the drill bit from bending. From my honest opinion, these drill bits for the price that they're at, they're way too good to be given bad reviews and I'm genuinely believing the people that didn't have a good experience with these either didn't properly handle the drill bit OR really actually received a faulty bit, which does seem understandable if they are making these at this price point so you have to give them some slack.

See the picture attached? This is a 130 year old solid GRANITE building with THIRTY INCH THICK walls. I've been dreading this job for months. We had to install exterior cameras on this building and that means a LOT of holes through pure granite. Not just "stone", not "rock" not "concrete" but freaking granite. I've burned up MANY bits in my SDS plus drill on this behemoth in recent years and I was considering outsourcing the job but decided it was time to upgrade to an SDS Max and the right bits. I purchased a new DeWalt cordless SDS Max hammer and two of these bits to start... I actually purchased these assuming they'd fail so I also bought a couple other much more expensive bits. My guys just called from the job site - one of these bits did 9 holes through thirty six inches of this granite wall and it's still going. I don't know how long until it's toasted, but I'm MORE than impressed with what I got out of it. I'm ordering more in other diameters as we speak! Buy it. Use it!

This bit will not get lots of use here. Need to drill through some outside concrete walls for security camera cable. The previous bit simply wasn't long enough. This bit fits my DeWALT 7 Amp corded hammer drill just fine, as do other SDS bits I've tried. I will not be drilling more than a few holes, so I won't have long-term results to report. But the price here on Amazon can't be beat. Less than 1/3 of the price at big-box stores as of this writing for the exact same bit. Update October 2024: Turns out I got a great price here, but the current price, while it's since gone up, is still very good. And when I finally used the bit, it went through concrete and cinder block very well indeed, and there's clearly lots more life left on the bit.

Used this for drilling hole in boulders to split them. Works great and lasts pretty good. I wish it did last longer hence 4 stars. That said I have 13 of these bits and have drilled over 1000 holes in several hardness's of rock. Having more bits and only drilling 1 hole per bit to keep them cool and then wait till they are cool extends the life. Also hit the right speed they last longer than going fast. I know it's hard when you drill more than a few holes to not try to go fast...

This 3/4" bit is getting the job done, purchased this bit to drill into some rock that I am trying to dig thru. I been using this bit with the Bosh bulldog hammer drill and it's drilling down no problem little slow some times but it breaks thru. I also bought the 1/2" bit not knowing which one would work better but the 1/2" bit did not drill very good, 3/4" work a whole lot better. I am still using this bit after couple months and it is still working like the first day. I would recommend this item as long you have the right hammer drill to power it. To be clear I been drilling into hard ground with large rocks underneath for posts size holes 3 feet down.

I'm going to return the bit. I was shipped by amazon just wrapped in bubble wrap and was completely arched/bowed rendering it unusable and destroyed. I have purchased the same bit before in a larger size which they are awesome workhorses, I needed this smaller size to make punching through a 36inch masonry and adobe wall. Well now I have to wait again. The bubble wrap shipping amazon chose is totally unacceptable. They took away the shipping box review so I'm leaving my negative feedback here. Update: replacement bit came in today, this time it was shipped in a cardboard box fully protected. Bit was straight and ready to put in work! These masonry bits are fantastic. I'm changing my rating from 1 for the arched bubble wrapped bit to a 5 for the replacement properly shipped. Again my negative feedback was directed towards the shipping the bit themselves are superb.

This Bosch Bit made drilling through a very hard and established concrete foundation as easy as a hot knife through butter. It also made my job installing a Lorex Security Camera set-up much easier than I thought it would be.

These are very good 4-cutter bits. Seem to last pretty well so far.

This worked like butter in hard canadian shield granite and even better in hardened concrete. Drilled about 2 dozen holes without any degradation in performance. I used this with a small Bosch sds+ hammer drill.
