Mini Whistle Premium Emergency Whistle by Outmate-H62 Brass Loud Version EDC Tools

Wanted a safety device my wife ( and myself) could carry that was small, convenient and effective. Now attached to our key chain, this small whistle gives us big comfort. We know the whistle gives off a loud sound and will draw attention in time of need.As a bonus we could use the whistle to help others in need or even direct traffic should an emergency arise. And finally the gold color is attractive.. It’s a “ must have” item.

Although I had already bought a different whistle from another company, I purchased this one because of the smaller size. It’s about the size of a triple A battery, so it won’t be too cumbersome to carry on a keychain. I don’t go camping nor do I work as a football coach, but I do know that in many cases having one of these is more handy than yelling when needing help or in other situations.They’re loud enough to be heard from a certain distance. Nevertheless, it is not as loud as others whistles that I tried if we want to be picky. They do their job fairly well at least for my needs.One the things that may notice is that the whistle is made of a heavy duty metal. You can feel the weight, which is something that makes it very durable against any damage. However, if you’re worried about that, you might want to consider getting an aluminum whistle, or even one made out of titanium. The latter is a stronger metal which is at the same time much lighter than steel, but of course you have to fork out a little more money.That being said, I have to point out a big flaw in this product. The metal ring attached to the whistle is really flimsy as it came off of my keychain very easily. Fortunately it was inside my pocket when I noticed, otherwise I would have lost it. When I pulled the keychain out of my pocket, the metal ring opened up just enough for my keys to come off. I had to use my pliers to put the tips back together again. I don’t expect it to last much longer. I guess I’ll have to find a replacement for the metal ring. Be aware of this.

I keep it on my keychain. It takes a beating and it still looks and works like new! I use it when my dog runs off. She hears this whistle and always comes running to me.

Great for a keychain, light and small. 120 db is a loud whistle, same as an airhorn, but a higher pitch.I carry it when I run so that I can scare dogs off. It would also be good for mountain lions because their ears are tuned to higher pitches. A lot of mammals hear these higher pitches better than humans do. So I imagine that to them it would be really sharp and obnoxious.It's so handy and accessible when I carry my keys on my water bottle.

It is a good whistle.There is only one (and a half) reasons I would not recommend it, see below.It is as loud as one can hope for with human lungs. Not sure if louder whistles are available. If yes, I would prefer them, given they meet other requirements of size, weight and durability. This is the 1/2 the reason mentioned above.It is plenty small to go on my keychain, which was the idea from start, to have one with me at all times.I feel it should be very durable.There is the one reason I would not recommend it: it weighs a bit too much. I thought it would be ok. It kind of is. But after placing it on my key chain, I think that I would rather get aluminum one, about 0.35oz, 10grams, , also available. Or, for people who like the best, titanium one, also available.

I work in a pretty unsafe environment and these little suckers are perfect. They are loud and durable and slender, perfect for a key chain. I passed them to a couple of friends and they are ordering them, too. The only thing is, you may want to solder the brass jump ring or put a new one on, brass is kind of soft. But that shouldn't deter you from buying these little things. They are perfect. I think the other reviewers were talking about something else because these are wonderful

I had originally thought this product was not delivered but it was delivered to my remote mail box and not my doorstep which packages are usually delivered to . I requested a refund which was granted but could not find a way to request that the refund be reversed. Hopefully Outmate will see this and contact me to correct the situation.
