Short story: I've had an evaporative cooler before that did nothing, this one actually works.Long story: I was dissapointed with previous air coolers and the good reviews which were traded for gift cards. I found myself distruful of these things and distrustful of the reviews.This one I bought because I saw it actually had mist that come out.When I turned this on and poored in some water I was surprised. It uses cooling mist, but with the cool setting on this thing definetely feels like a legit ac. I was ready to return it if it dissapointed me but it worked well.Add some ice to the top and it gets even colder. The design is nice, the handle convinient, the drain is easy to empty, the thing is easy to fill, the controls work fine, and it even oscillates.This thing won't cool down your whole house in the middle of summer, but it's definetely a cooling lifeline.Be careful placing it by sensitive items. This thing pumps out a lot of water vapor which can damage electronics if they're facing it too closely.Overall, solid device that actually works.

Received that portable "air conditioner" yesterday and tested. There is no cooling. You have to hold you hand next to the grill in order to feel the moisture and a little cold air coming out. I had it running for an hour with the same result. Returning.

I have now had this about 5 days amidst Boston's first multi-day heat wave. I do not have air conditioning in my apartment. Window fans and ceiling fans only. I can not, for the life of me, understand the 5-star reviews that say this cools a room!! This wouldn't even cool a closet, or any more than 10-12 inches in front of you. It is a weak fan so fails in that area and the cooling air feature (when filled with ice cubes) is not consistent, even when on high. The only reason I am keeping this is for my cat. I'm serious! The portability feature means I can charge it up and put it right beside wherever she is laying (usually the hottest place in the house where no fans reach) and it cools her. The reach on the fan doesn't even allow it to cool me in bed, when placed right beside me on my bedside table.I'm not sure how other similar cooling fans/personal ACs work in comparison, but this is not worth the price (maybe the labor is if made domestically) for being a fancy USB not-so-strong fan.

Our 14yo pup has been struggling with Cushing's for a few months now, so we've been looking for anything we can do to help him feel more comfortable, specially with the panting. I found this little gadget, with the idea of putting it just besides his bed, and it has been a blessing for him (and for us!).The noise is minimum, and if you use cold water, it blows a fine mist that keeps him cool for a long time. It's rechargeable, but we prefer to use it plugged to the wall, so it'll run longer.The first unit we got had issues powering on, but the seller went above and beyond to send us a new unit in no time. This one is just perfect.

This cooler definitely will blow ice cold air on you if you sit very close to it. There is a fine mist as well, which can feel nice, but it is definitely water vapor so a heads up if you keep it close to electronics. I suppose my issue is that this works ok, but it shouldn't cost more than $25. This isn't worth the price.It's sort of flimsy feeling and won't cool even a small area. It really only cools up close. A hand held fan with an ice cube in front of it will do the same thing.Charging is quick and battery life is nice if you are looking for a chargable evaporative cooler.Heads up: The company does pay/reimburse customers for good reviews, which is likely why this is so highly rated overall.

I had hoped that this small unit would provide enough "cool" air to make my patio tolerable in the Florida heat. It does not. Sitting within just a few inches of it, only "some" cool air was felt. However, indoors, this thing is like magic! I often stay at a lakeside condo that has a window A/C unit and rather poor ventilation. Setting this up by the bed at night significantly cooled the air around the bed.If you are going to run the unit for more than just an hour or so, and/or you are going to put ice in the top (which does provide cooler air than just adding cold or room temp water), then you will need to set up a basin or bucket to catch the overflow. The unit's bottom reservoir only hold so much, and then it starts "spilling out" of the drain hose. Otherwise, you will have to manually take the unit to a sink or the tub to drain it.In all, I'm not sorry that I spent the money for it, but if you are thinking about using it to cool an outdoor area, you'll be disappointed.

This little air cooler REALLY cools! I was not expecting a whole lot for the size, but this has been great for keeping my small office cool as the temps go up and our central AC struggles to keep up. The carrying handle has been great for moving it room to room. We even took it to our sons baseball game and used it and everyone wanted to know where to get it! I definitely recommend adding ice and cold water as it makes it even more effective! Recharging is a breeze and it lasts a long time. We have gotten over 4 hours on one charge!

It's a good device, but there's a big problem. This has 3 blue lights that indicate fan speed, cooling power and swing angle. This light is extremely strong and when used in a dark room it even illuminates the room. Blue lights have been shown to impair the production of melatonin and, consequently, sleep.

Although this particular item didn't live up to my expectations the company was very quick to refund me. The battery took too long to charge and only lasted for approximately 3 hours. Could just have been a bad unit.

Does not work at all. Mists a little cool air.
