Check your ID
I was looking forward to my wine tonight but for the first time since 2009 Amazon requested ID ( I'm 53) so I never got it. My neighbour ordered Amaretto last week, she's 20 and never got asked for ID..Go Figure..

Great South African Chardonney.
I was sent a single (alas) bottle of this Amazon Brand - Compass Road ChardonnayIt's South African which is a good indicator of quality.Now to my partner and I the presentation is poor, very simple. The bottle label looks boring.(Yes I do know the old adage that a young guy always goes for a colourful and stylish label often the wine is inferior)This is good wime which I believe is selling itself short.If I saw this on a Supermarket shelf I would not be attracted to it.BUT then again you are buying it from Amazon so this is not a consideration.I was delighted with the wine it is truly excellent.(Just goes to show never be put off by a plain label.)The best year is always the one when you open the bottle.Recommended.

Fresh Clean Tasting Chardonnay
When this arrived it came well protected in a very decent thick cardboard cartoon . Also worth a mention and fair play to the Amazon delivery driver he checked my age as it is an age related product, so top marks for that.I really liked this wine, it had a nice fresh clean fruity taste. Myself and the wife had it with a salmon meal , used some of it to help cook it too. It all went down a treat.I normally pay around a fiver to five fifty for my wine ( this was £6.47 at the time of the review). This is a little dearer than what I'd normally pay but I have also seen this is available in box of six also on Amazon for £35 .99 which will cut down the cost to around £6 a bottle, so I would definitely consider it in the near future.

Nice as a cold/chilled drink
I know little about wine besides white is traditionally a good accompaniment for fish at meals but I know that this was a nice glass of wine. I enjoyed the flavour myself and my mother and father, who drink wine more regularly than myself, both appreciated it.They both have said that, while they generally prefer red wine, that this was a nice wine and that they would drink it again, either paired with a meal or on an evening relaxing and watching TV or during some relaxed leisure time. They definitely felt this was of equal or superior quality to the popular brands of wine they would purchase from stores on the high street. Recommended.

Upon recieving the bottle my first perception was it was very light in colour. This gave me some thoughts of it being light and crisp and perfect for a summer evening.After the first couple drinks at room temp, it was not great. Very unpleasant finish that definitely is described, tangy. But it goes one step further. Not just tangy but it has a very acidic finish after the tangy zing.I tried chilling this after, and it definitely improved it by subduing some of those harsh flavours. It's not a balanced wine on my pallette, I much prefer something with less zing.
