The biggest issue with this cutter is there is nothing that presses the leather flat against the ruler as you draw it through the tool. This causes the leather to cut unevenly if you don't hold it down with your pulling hand. Pressing the leather into the tool you are basically pushing your thumb towards a sharp blade. The blade also hangs out on the bottom side of the ruler giving a second sharp end you need to be careful of.Ultimately this can cut strips, but I'd recommend using pliers instead of your fingers to push or pull the leather around the blade.

The blades are pretty dull out of the box, and when mounted into the frame, have a slight angle. The dullness and angle of the blade causes leather to slip upward out of the jig and cause uneven cuts. Stropping the blades does help, but the leather still wants to slip out. I recommend spending a couple more dollars for the weaver strap cutter.

This thing is beyond horrible. No clue how it could have a 5 star rating. First off, gasket? Those bent pieces of metal are gaskets? Ok. Next the thumb screws bottoms out around the head hitting the handle to fall short of tightening by about 3 mm. The blade couldn't cut through Play-Doh. Just horrible all around. Another example of something that is literal trash out of the box. There are so many things wrong with it, it can't be a one off mistake.

This product does NOT cut leather as easily as it shows. There are NO instructions on how to use it. A complete waste of money. Don't buy this product.
