A very different take on cults, bikers and finding a reason to live and love
Well that was very different! The first book in the Bare Bones MC series shocked me because it was so crude and dirty, then the second book had much more of a family oriented storyline and I really liked it. Now with this one, I'm finding that although this is a series written by the same author, they can be read as standalones without losing too much enjoyment and they are three extremely unique books with very different tales to tell.Knoxie, the Bare Bones MC's tattoo artist and possible new member, has been making porn and dealing with a bad marriage when he becomes entrusted to protect Bellamy, a young woman who was left to die by a crazy (we are talking "Charles Manson and drinking the drugged poisoned kool-aid" type of nutballs crazy) cult. She has been brainwashed and drugged and raped for years and it is only when the Bare Bones MC find out the depth of depravity of this group, that they spring into action to try to free the helpless women who are trapped there and stop them from their heinous activities...drugs, the abuse of Bellamy's pregnant sister and a whole lot of other evil activities are just a few of the items on their agenda. There was a few places that confused the hell out of me and I found myself re-reading the previous page to understand what was going on..but for the most part it was an interesting story of two people dealing with their own emotional issues and finding a way to heal together (while also working to protect and save other innocent victims). At times it was harsh to read and some twisted and violent acts occur, but if you like dark and non-conventional biker books, you will like this one.**** 4 **** "a reason to live and love" stars

Bad to the Bones has it all!r
This series keeps getting better with each book, and this one speaks to me personally because my family also had an experience with cult brainwashing - this stuff really happens, and Layla Wolfe has captured the feelings of helplessness and hopelessness as well as the victory - not to mention that this book is HOT HOT HOT.

... wrong with Layla Wolfe's books -- especially if you like some wit along with your motorcycle clubs
You cannot go wrong with Layla Wolfe's books -- especially if you like some wit along with your motorcycle clubs, hot dude Knoxie Hammet, and crazy hot sex with the lovely cult escapee Bellamy Jager. I couldn't put this one down!

Excellent Read
I was gifted a copy of "Bad to the Bones" for review. It's true that I'm not much of an MC book reader. However, I DO enjoy the Bare Bones series. Layla Wolfe has a unique writing style that it's easy to follow and get caught up in. Also, I'm always on the lookout for something new. Something that excites me. Something that doesn't follow a formula. I really got that with "Bad to the Bones".I'm going to save the spoilers because I think that this is a book that should be read to thoroughly grasp the concept and the plot. I WILL tell you that there is a lot of action that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I'll also tell you that Knoxie, the male lead, is sexy and heroic, and Bellamy, the heroine, has just enough confused naivete to make her vulnerable, but she's not a pushover, by any means. As with the first two books in this series, there are plenty if interesting background characters, and there are also characters who cross over as well. The villain is a great one, and I was completely swept up in the story. Keep in mind that this is an MC series, so it's rough around the edges, and in some parts, it's not pretty. These guys aren't always on the straight and narrow, and while they go out of the way to protect their own, they're wild. That means that there is quite a bit of...shall I say...hedonism? Booze, drugs, women, sex, and violence, and it's all out there in the open. The language is raw, and I was occasionally a bit uncomfortable. That's ok, though because "Bad to the Bones" is reality, not some silly fantasy about what it MIGHT be like to be in an outlaw MC.If I had one knock on the whole thing, and it's not really even a real complaint, it's the fact that Knoxie and Bellamy don't have enough time together. That's just a personal opinion. He was always out on club business. Granted, it was all about what went down with her and the situation that brought her into contact with the club, but I would have liked to have seen him be able to give her some physical/emotional comfort in the middle part of the book. What she went through was very intense, and I can only imagine how it would have been so much easier for her to be held and loved a little more often. All in all, this was a great read. It's obvious that Ms. Wolfe puts her entire heart and soul into her writing. You can feel it radiating from every page. I'm impressed, and I highly recommend that you pick up a copy "Bad to the Bones" for yourself.

Nope, not for me
I'm sorry but this book just did not do it for me. I felt like i was on a rollercoaster of a drugged up mind, and found myself skimming through large swaths of the book to see if it would get better. It didn't..more or less felt like a parody of an MC book. That's just my opinion, there seemed to be a story somewhere there, unfortunately i wound up being fed up early on and just skimmed to see what the heck it was all about.

Bad To The Bones (The Bare Bones Book 3)
Wow! What a fantastic roller coaster read. Couldn't put this book down. Loved the characters Knoxie and Bellamy and the storyline so different than the other two books in the series, they were great reads too but this one is my favourite. A definite page turner. Really well written and edited, as all of Layla's books that I've read are. Hope there is another book in the series.
