A round-the-world culinary adventure
But that is not all! There are wonderful descriptions of travel to countries which at the time were unusual and often dangerous destinations: Poland, Russia, Iran, Afghanistan and Turkey as examples.Miles has visited places which I know I will never get to see but his vivid descriptions of architecture, landscapes, food and such hospitable people have given me a glimpse into those places. Not all of the people he met over the years were friendly however and he had some frightening experiences too.It was very interesting to read about adventurous travel in the 1970s which bears no resemblance to travel nowadays. This is a great armchair traveller's book!

A must read for any traveller.
Engrossed from the start, so well written that you seem to know every thrill they have encountered on their travels and places, a whole new perception on life and the need to embrace it, a fantastic read.

Fantastic read!
Really enjoyed this book. Miles has a great way of capturing the sights, sounds and culinary delights of a place that make you want to jump in your campervan and disappear into the sunset.

Great Read
Have read and enjoyed both of Miles`s books. They will take you to places that you yearn to go to but can't at the present time. The perfect summer read.

What I did in the holidays....
This is the first book I have given up on in 15 years. Man in campervan tries to present holidays as epic journey. Tedious.
