Barbie Happy Family Pregnant Midge & Baby

My daughter who is 4 is fascinated with being a mommy. She plays with dolls and pretends to be a Mommy. She wants to be a Mommy. When I used to feed or bathe her sister she would pretend to do the same. She has put a pillow under her shirt to pretend to be pregnant. For those who are SO CONCERNED that this doll will make little girls want to be mommy's here is a newsflash- they already do! Should I ban all these activities or are they okay because they don't involve biology. Almost all little ones know babies grow in Mommy's tummies- what is the big deal?I am looking forward to buying this for my daughter as she has been asking for Midge and family for a while since she saw a commercial. For those of you who want to take it off the shelves- shame on you. If you don't approve of it- don't buy it. Last I checked the rest of us hadn't agreed to let you be the morality police for their family. I'll agree not to drop one on your doorstep and you can not censure my choices. It's people like you that made the Bible the most banned book in history- David and Bathsheba aren't very good examples for kids afterall.

I really appreciate Mattel offering a doll in an important phase of life. Granted many groups won't like it but I say this is an important educational tool. As a mom who has homeschooled in the past I say anything that can bring up subject matter, let alone demonstrate that a baby is inside the belly is great!The baby fits inside the hard plastic tummy of mom and the tummy attaches with magnets and elastic(optional). My little girl has a thing for babies and mommies (dont look at me I played with cars as kid) which this toy inspires. I got the expected questions from her, but as stated I expected them. Everyone has thier own way of dealing with the "Where do babies come from?" question (btw that is a great starter book) this just helped with the visualization of how a baby fit inside.As for playability:She loves this doll and all the little "things". She had a hard time with the babies diaper but I help with that. Little fingers arent always dexterious enough for such things but kids love little things.

I bought this for my 8-year-old hesitantly because of the price, but now that it's here, I can see that it was worth it. Classic Barbie doll quality with a load of extras, sturdy but easily managed belly, all-around solid construction. Well worth the price if you can get your hands on one.

Garbage - why would I want a child playing with a Doll like this? It’s like teaching a kid to be pregnant!My kids are taught at home the do’s and donts and consequences!Shame on Amazon to send me this crap!
