Each story was excellent and different! I couldn't put the book down. I love the In death series and this was another angle! I recommend it to all!

Fine Anthology
I buy anthologies frequently if they contain a story of stories by authors I already read. They sometimes lead me to new authors too. I chose this one because I am a huge fan of the Eve Dallas mysteries by J. D. Robb.J. D. Robb -- This story was a great episode in the series. Eve is quintessential Eve even when she is possessed by a ghost who wants to find her great-granddaughter. The interactions between Eve and Roarke are a wonderful example of lovers knowing and accepting each other despite their faults.Mary Blayney: This was a cute story about how men and women don't really understand each other. It took place in England at the time of the Napoleonic Wars. A countess and count learn to communicate better after switching bodies for a couple of day.Patricia Gaffney: Angie needs an investigator to prove that her grandparents house is haunted. Otherwise her evil cousin will sell it because the bank foreclosed on it. Angie is an inventor like her grandparents were. Henry needs a job. He was a newspaperman but lost his job because of a scandal. They meet, fall in love, live happily ever after (in the house.)Ruth Ryan Langan: This was a touching romance. Christina loses her parents in a car accident and is left to care for her younger brother. She should be able to depend on her fiancé, shouldn't she? Or is the handsome carpenter the true hero?Mary Kay McComas: The busy exec comes home to sell off the old family home and finds that the ghosts of her mother and aunts still inhabit the place and will until they can find what they lost. MJ meets the man next door and his adorable young son who sees the ghosts. Looking for what the ghosts lost makes her reassess her life too.All of the stories were good. They were just long enough. I liked the wide variety of time periods and reasons for ghostly presence.

Ghost Investigation and Investing
Another short story grouped with four other authors. Ms. Robb's contribution is entitled Possession in Death, adding to the In Death series and the life of Eve Dallas, Lieutenant in 2060 New York City's Finest. There are other forces at work following the stabbing death of a Hungarian woman for no apparent reason. Before dying, the victim whispers a request, or command, regarding her missing daughter, a dancer.Eve often has nightmares from her youth freeing herself from abusive parents and being found alone with no memory of her life before the incident preceding her escape. Officials named her Eve, the first woman, and Dallas, the city in which she was found. She has interacted in dreams with victims and horrible attacks by her father. She is used to the involvement of those spirits in cases being with her and trying to "converse" with her.In this case, as the title suggests, spirits come to be more closer connected to Eve during her waking hours as well.As with most of her short stories, there is more wit exchanged between Eve and her partner, Peabody, her husband, Roark, and other characters. These is one of my favorite part of the In Death works, and it is loaded into her novella's or short stories or whatever this are, in order for the to become charmed with the characters quickly so that new readers can become so in the shorter period of time available.Twists and turns, of course, but this is one of those tales that brings Eve closer into your heart, as like the other spirits, you are sharing Eve's existence.

Possession in death review
Everytime an anthology including a JD Robb novella/short story is released, I will admit that the in death novella is the only one I read so the review will only be that of Possession in death. Possession picks up where the last in death, Indulgence, left off. For those who were disappointed with Indulgence's ending will have a nice little surprise at the beginning with the second interrogation discussed and the actual cookout which was set up in Indulgence. The novellas have a paranormal focus which is totally opposite of Eve's rational side so it is always an interesting combination. Eve is having a hard time after wrapping up the last case and wondering if what she does ever enough for her victims. She comes across a woman in the streets who has been stabbed. While trying to save her, something weird happens and she is possessed by the spirit of the victim. The victim was Gizi, a romanian gypsy, in NY looking for her great granddaughter, Beata, who has disappeared. The novella is short at 80 pages and fast paced so the main focus is that these incidences are most likely related and finding the murderer of Gizi will lead to finding Beata, who Gizi believed was still alive. The short stories are always an added bonus in between the full length in death books. All the favorite characters are featured with most of them in the beginning at the cookout. Eve has matured so much in the course of the series. It is also an interesting mix of people that Eve now calls family. Marriage to Roarke seems to suit her and she is more comfortable in their relationship in their second year of marriage. For someone who started off with no family and living alone in a dumpy apartment, she has definitely come a long way.

This review is for "Possession in Death" only
I only read the J.D. Robb short story in this - "Possession in Death".It was very good, and while I absolutely adored it and thought it was a great side trip in the series, it is not what fans of In Death are going to expect when they read this.It most definitely has paranormal elements to it that might upset some long time readers of Eve Dallas and her very grounded in reality way of police work.It might also give new readers a false idea of what to expect if this is their first In Death read by J.D. Robb. There have occasionally in the series been minor supernatural elements to the regular In Death series, but this short story definitely revolves directly around them.So while I loved the story, I'm only giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because it's a little more out of the ordinary for an Eve Dallas read.

J D Robb's In Death series is great!
This short story fits in nicely between 2 of her other books in the series. Glad to get it.

Finally, a JD Robb anthology where I like the other books!
I only buy the anthologies that contain JD Robb stories to complete my series of JD Robb books. However, I have always been disappointed by the other stories contained within the anthologies as they are usually weak and only serve to highlight the fantastic writing of Nora as JD Robb (in my completely biased opinion!). I read the other stories in the anthology and, this time, was not disappointed. The stories may not be what I would usually choose to read, but the writing and storylines actually stand up to Nora's for a change, so they were still enjoyable to read, whilst I await eagerly the next JD Robb installment...

Good
The story by J.D. Robb was great, as is to be expected, but some of the other stories were not as exciting.

JD Robb.
This was a great book of short stories, the JD Robb story is a continuation of her latest book but also completely different to her normal stories. The other stories in the book were also a great read, I really enjoyed them all and am not really a lover of short stories.
