Hyperkin "Scout" Premium Wired Controller for SNES - Space Black

I got one of these Hyperkin Snes controllers to replace my old Super Nintendo ones that were having trouble with the start and select buttons. This new controller here overall feels pretty darn decent. It's definitely different than the original Nintendo hardware. But at least everything is quite functional and in the right place. It even adds some little improvements as well. Like a slightly larger back for extra grip. The most important part, is that the d-pad works really good. That's always the weakest link in so many controllers. The action buttons all have the right feel and the shoulder buttons are nice as well. With more than enough length for me on the controller cable. It's the total right price and an excellent controller to get you back in the Super Nintendo groove.

Like many buyers here, I have my venerable SNES with it's two controllers. I've been going back to playing my old console games because of how overreaching modern game devs are, and trying to play my SNES revealed that both controllers' Start and Select buttons barely work. I've torn down and electronically repaired consoles and controllers before, so I opened them up and cleaned them. That made the buttons work for a couple days, and that was it. I wanted to keep playing while I research the issue with old controllers, so I bought this. So far, it's as good as other reviewers say in my experience! All buttons, to include the Start and Select buttons, work great!! I will throw in a nitpick and say that the ABXY buttons feel a tad mushy compared to my originals, and the L/R buttons are harshly clicky. But again, I'm picking at nits here. In my opinion, retro games aren't as sensitive to mushy/clicky buttons as modern games are with regard to player input. Now, I think I've figured out what the issue is with my originals, and I just need to get a bottle of conductive paint. But, with as good as this controller is, I am no longer in a hurry to work on my old originals, and considering that I also still play some modern games and thus can be finicky to controller feel and response, saying that I'm happy to just keep using this controller over my trusted originals means a lot! I gladly recommend this controller!

This controller fit in snug and worked exactly as the original would as far as I can tell. The quality is good and the cord is a decent length. I'll definitely be buying a second one.

This is the one to get. Cord is decently long. No lag at all. Quality feels great. I know it’s tempting to buy a wireless, but they always have a delay. This is the way to go, you won’t regret it.

This Hyperkin Scout Premium controller for Super Nintendo was well packaged and feels premium. The cord length, colors and materials all are what I expected out of a third party controller. I specifically got this one so I’d have a known, good, working controller while repairing an SNES console. To my surprise, the right direction on the D-PAD was unresponsive and I had to press down extremely hard for it to register. I decided to take this one apart and found that the membrane had some left over material on the contacts. Thankfully I was able to clean it off with isopropyl alcohol and a q-tip and it was good as new. After reassembly, the controller was very responsive and felt premium. I gave this 4 stars only because of this issue. Otherwise, this is a great controller and a perfect replacement or spare to have on hand!

This controller feels nice in the hands. The button presses are solid and fast. A perfect SNES replacement controller. It also works for NES games on the Retron dual console!

Have not had it long but so far so good! Works and plugs in same as the original.

Buttons were mapped incorrectly, I had to return it.

This controller works very well, just like the original controller. I had bought before a few controllers from AliExpress, but they were rubbish. I could not use those. Better pay a bit more and get these.
