Great Stapler!
Works very well. It doesn't make the staples rounded up - just flat, but I've felt numerous ones, and it doesn't scratch you at all. I think it does bend them up slightly into the paper, but they probably make the edges of the staples rounded (not sharp), so it helps not to get scratched. This is perhaps one of the reason that they want you to use Optima brand of staples - both has chisel point to staple in well, and probably the 'soft' edges as well. But again, it does a solid job of stapling - the staple-ends are not loose at all, but set tightly against the paper - and all with an easy push down of the handle.UPDATE: I wonder about the many people who are talking about jamming; I haven't had one jam. Perhaps they're not using the correct staples. There are different thicknesses; a staple for more sheets needs to be thicker (besides longer). They recommended their brand of staples (Optima). Perhaps that's the issue. Also, I have found that sometimes, one leg of the staple is not totally against the paper, and since this stapler doesn't make the edges rounded - just bent up slightly towards the paper, you could perhaps get scratched. But most are against the paper well. (Flat is supposed to be an advantage, as it takes somewhat less space). THIS IS PERHAPS THE EASIEST HIGH CAPACITY STAPLER TO USE! Since the distance the handle has to travel from up to down is a few times that of others, it 'falls' giving more leverage; it somehow accomplishments better like that. It's very easy to staple; much easier than another brand I tried, or even another Swingline model.THANK YOU SWINGLINE, AND THANK YOU AMAZON - IT'S GREAT TO KNOW THAT THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE WORKING BEHIND THE SCENES TO HELP YOU GET WHAT YOU NEED!!!There are so many different kinds of tools and materials, and the fact that there are people working hard to see that these things happen, is great! Much appreciation!!!

Use it every day.
Great quality from Swingline. Staples through a good stack of paper and hasn't jammed up yet.

Staples Our Mail-Order Food Packets Perfectly - But It Is LARGE
Our Mail-Order Prepared Meal company decided to push off the work of gathering the three packets that constitute a meal on to us customers. The food is exceptional and not found elsewhere, so we are stuck. What has this got to do with a stapler? Well, our very ergonomically small and perfect Swingline uses standard staples that have 1/4 inch 'legs', and while they punch through the six cardboard layers plus plastic that make up a meal 'package', they do not 'clasp' the packages securely - and you need to really bear down to even get the staples to have *any* 'grab'.So we got this monster of a stapler - compared with our 5-inch long 2-inch high Swingline that uses standard 1/4-inch long staple legs - and will need to find an out-of-the-way drawer or cabinet to stick it in when not in use. 'Ergonomically' it requires little effort to staple our meal packages together, and it does that very well. The only 'Con' we see is its large size - it stands over four inches tall and is around 10 inches long. But it gets the job done.Others may want to be aware of this interesting [to us] tidbit . . .The 3/8 inch leg staples that it uses - and it comes with a box of 500 of these staples, so we probably did not need to buy the tin of several thousand staples - have an interesting 'clasping' pattern to accommodate the 3/8 inch long staple 'legs'. Because the staple 'head' is only 1/2 inch long - the 'standard' staple 'legs' are 1/4 inch long - if you only staple a few pages, when the stapler 'clasps' the legs, the 1/4 inch legs fold into a 1/2 inch pattern that lines up with the 1/2 inch 'head'. With that understanding, when *this* stapler 'clasps' the 3/8 inch long staple legs, the legs would 'overlap' by 1/8 inch if only a few pages get stapled together. So the Swingline folks designed this stapler so that the 'clasping' mechanism 'clasps' the legs at a 5 or 10-degree offset angle so that the 'folded' legs are offset from each other and do not 'stack up' on each other. You probably have to see it to get the full picture.I don't know if this is peculiar to Swingline - maybe all 3/8 inch leg-length staplers do this.So back to the 'Review' . . . If you need to staple through something that is thicker than around 1/8 inch - half the 'standard' staple 1/4 inch 'leg' length - then this stapler will definitely do the job. If you need it to also be 'storable' in your slide-open kitchen drawers, then you may not be totally happy with this 4-inch high by 10-inch long stapler.

Impressed
The stapler is bigger than I had expected, it has a space age look that says "I'm all business". Someone obviously put some effort into the overall clean-line design.Basically, it was easy to open and put the staples in, that is once I understood how the staple chamber opened. Most staplers operate by lifting the handle but this one you push a button and pull the staple chamber forward and out from the front. A few more package directions would have been nice, as I hate pushing and pulling on any new equipment for fear of damaging it without trying. It did a great job of stapling the 10 page test I experimented on.The funny thing is, I now own four Swingline staplers. One small desk model I have had probably 50 years, which still staples as well as the day it was purchased even though it doesn't do over 8 or 9 pages. It was bought when the boys started school. I have a long arm Swingline which is great for what it is intended, but a little awkward for sitting on a desk. Then there is the Swingline purchased about 7 years ago that was not working, and a total aggravation. After getting a price to have it repaired I decided it would be cheaper to buy a new one. I debated whether to even purchase another Swingline but I'm a sucker for a lifetime guarantee. So here is this beauty, but on the day it arrived I had decided on trying to repair the one that didn't work on my own. Amazing what can be done with a little Vaseline on a Q-tip rubbed the inside walls of the chamber where the staples ride. All those metal filings and gunk was stopping the spring mechanism from moving freely, and the staple would jam and bend before going through the paper, then the jam would need to be fished out of the end of the stapler with a pair of tweezers. Guess everything needs a little maintenance now and then.I really had not planned on having a stapler collection...but the Optima looks like a keeper, and it uses the same exact staples as the one bought 7 years ago.

Wonderful stapler!
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this stapler. It works well stapling a couple pieces of paper as well as a large number of pages. Tired of the cheap plastic staplers that cannot staple more than 10 papers without breaking. This stapler is sturdy and am sure will last years.
