The capacity is the main point, you don't want to file every single day, you want to be sure you left water for your dog for quite a lot of day. I have purchase 2. Then one is always clean and get ready to refile.

I have two LARGE German shepherds. They haven't tried to eat it. It takes them 2.5 days to empty this. They still dribble everywhere. It still needs to have their slobber washed out each time. But only every other day. So result. Sort of, I do still have to use my magic mop after them. Beats filling their water bowl up 3 times a day. :)

I had been using a small one similar to this but because it was an open ended one, although it worked it was really difficult to fill and position without spilling everywhere. This is great. I find it about the right size to handle . I would struggle with anything bigger as it is quite heavy when filled. Works wonderfully. Cats are drinking from it with no prom.ble

Wanted one of these for the hot summer we had as was filling the dog water bowl every 5 mins.Its very good for small to medium dogs but not large or more than 1 dog so as my dog stays at my friends a lot with his dog needed a bigger one and got the 4 gallon one which is huge but far better for my needs.
