Traditional African Designs (Dover Pictorial Archive)

I found this book very useful as it has good clear black and white illustrations from all over Africa. I was trying top create textile wall hangings and quilts using fabric from Africa and used this book as a source of inspiration for my designs.

Excellent source of material including stylized lions, birds, fish, alligators and other animals, totemic figures, abstracts, geometrics, zigzags and border configurations. Adapted from shields, masks, jewellery, textiles, wall paintings, carved panels etc. Over 200 designs from many different African countries.

The cover leads one to think the contents would be more colourful and interesting. It's not. Poor quality production. I tried to give it away and it was given back to me!
