Highly recommend!
DI Kett is a fascinating, multidimensional character who has been unceremoniously thrust into being the only parent to his three young children, all girls, after his wife was abducted in London. Trying to adjust, trying to do right by his kids, he makes his way back to his hometown. But he's a dedicated detective as well, so when girls start going missing on their paper routes, he's inextricably drawn to the case. As his personal life and his professional life collide, you get a real sense of him and his character.I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it. It was a very easy, but doggedly suspenseful, read with just the right amount of lightheartedness to give the reader a break when it was most needed. I highly recommend!

Crackin'!!!!!!!
What a fabulous book. It is so great to discover a new author with a series I can get my teeth into! I loved the addition of the little girls and their integral part of the procedural, especially Moira. That adds a dimension I have not seen before in crime fiction. What a challenge to balance single fatherhood and the traumatic reasons for it with the task of a frightening new case also featuring three young girls, all of this in a new city and home with no linens. DI Robbie Kett is brilliant. One gets a sense of a real person there. Very impressive book. I'm on to the next...

Great action packed thriller. Smith packs a punch from start to finish. He leaves you impatiently waiting for the next edition in the series. Well defined characters and plot. Keep writing Mr. Smith the mystery readers in the world are waiting for more!

Good start to a series
Considering that there were a bunch of kids in this story, I was hesitant. But this is an interesting story with good characters and writing. It’s a mystery, but it’s also quite funny at times

Policeman, husband, father, my kind of hero.
Robbie Kett is my kind of hero, although he has fierce competition from his three daughters!DCI Kett is the heartbeat of this new book by Alex Smith. Kett is a man whose passion, commitment and sense of humour forge the first book in a new series. With a deft hand, Smith weaves together the policeman’s fight against the ugly face of violent crime, the husband’s sense of love and loss and the emotional and physical turmoil of being a parent - with some lovely laugh out loud moments. It’s this balancing of love and horror, laughter and tears while the plot and Kett’s own family tragedy unfold that makes the book such a good read.

Great book, spread the word.
This book was recommended by the author JD Kirk and it is well worth spreading the word. You are in it from page one. I have already preordered his new one out on January 1st. Worth the wait.

THRILLS, HEART, AND A GREAT PLOT. BRILLIANT!
This book was sensationally good. A tense and superbly executed police thriller with a central police detective unlike any I have read before. As a father of girls myself, the travails of DCI Robert Kett, investigating the crime while dealing with three unruly daughters, felt as authentic as they were hilarious. And it was this balancing of the warm-hearted family subplot with the VERY dark main plot that made the book such an engaging read. It's also brilliantly written, with effortless flowing prose and too many neat turns of phrase to pick out one in particular. Thoroughly recommended in every possible way!

Terrific new series
Fast-moving crime thriller set in Norwich with a full complement of great goodies, awful baddies, and hilarious toddlers. Jack Kett is a welcome and refreshing addition to the ranks of fictional detectives. I read it in one sitting, literally unable to give up until I found out the whos, hows and whys. Treat yourself to this first in what I hope is going to be a long, long series.

Fabulous find!
I'm a huge fan of Stuart MacBride and JD Kirk and, having come to the end of Kirk's most recent book on Kindle, there was a promo from Zirtex Media recommending their other authors/books. I clicked on Paper Girls by Alex Smith and downloaded a sample.Wow! I love his writing. His characters are really engaging and there's plenty of action and suspense to keep you on your toes. Paper Girls is one of those books you just have to keep on reading to see what happens next.Highly recommended!
