Fully engaging!
Roseanna M. White has succeeded in delivering another thrilling novel! From the beginning White had me hooked. Even after the first chapter you will find it incredibly hard to put the novel down. The Fire Eyes are once again causing a ruckus, and between that and the things Rowena has to deal with you will be kept on edge.It was a perfect blend of truth, romance, mystery and suspense. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and got lost within its pages. The characters were all well written, and have me eager for Book 3, yearning to meet up with them again. There is a beautiful thread of truth woven throughout this tale. One that was perfectly timed for me by God. In my private devotional time and study of the Word, as well as in circumstances in my life, God has been speaking to me and teaching me about these truths. This book was just reinforcing those truths in a beautiful and heartfelt way. The truth that God is sovereign and God is good; that He is with us even in the times that seem dark, and He is working things together for our good. Also, our God is BIG and He can do anything, don't put Him in a box. Trust God and be open to the opportunities He has for you, the moments He wants you to look for Him and invite Him to step in and do more than you can imagine. So to sum it all up... This was an absolutely wonderful novel! I cannot wait for Book 3 to be out! Mrs. White has found a fan in me!

Series is a favorite!
This is the first series I have read from this author and I am just in love with the series and have so much respect for the author. Still haven't read number 3, but plan to soon, and hope to read her other books as well. I love hearing the background the author includes, that these characters and stories are ones she created when she was "a young lass", and developed with the help of others over the years. This book and main character were done very well, especially on a very sensitive subject (I recommend this as a maybe teenage(+) reading?), not hiding the facts or downplaying them, often trailing off as to not go into too much detail, but not hiding the struggle and fight of darkness verses light. Maybe it's because I could identify with the thought process believing lies over truth, and what a battle that truly is, discovering the nearness of God and the power He truly has. Can't say enough good things and definitely recommend!Note to the author (if author's even read amazon reviews...):These few minor things kept going through my head so I thought I'd share, but all said in great respect with a heart to help. I will keep this as coded as possible to not spoil anything for readers ;)Near the end of the book, I was under a misunderstanding of what exactly the plan of "character #1" was hoping to carry through when #1 made their mind up to go into #2's room. I found out a few chapters later that the plan I thought had been carried through had not been the case. As a reader, the intents and details were misinterpreted, but enjoyed how it fell into place a few chapters later (made me smile).Second, if I read it correctly, at the time near the end when Antagonist #1 planned Antagonist #2 to come and create a distraction, #1 wouldn't have known that they would possess the details they needed at the time of the distraction. The details came into hand of #1 only a few hours before the distraction took place. Does that make sense? Maybe it is a misunderstanding that is answered in the next book, but thought I'd mention it here while it was on my mind.Lastly, also near the end of the story, as much as I love the "perfect" character, I feel that especially as a man faced with struggle, to wrestle with the emotions and anger he must have had, and all His questions with God, that to make him more real-life, that he would choose a more physically active approach than the sitting and contemplating that he did. Maybe a long, brisk walk outside in the gardens or woods? Pacing? Some kind of physical display of his desperation during a moment when he must have felt exactly that: desperate, wrestling with emotions, and in need of God. Just to be able in his private time to show some weakness , or rather honesty, with the turmoil he must have felt.Just some thoughts on some minor things, and all meant to be a help, not tear down. I have so much respect for you as an author and look forward to reading more of your books!

Even Better than the First in the Series!
While Lady Rowena Kinnaird is first in line to inherit her father's earldom, she has never led the privileged life of her peers. Tucked away in her overbearing father's Highland home with a scheming step-mother, Rowena has never felt worthy of or equal to her title. When her physical safety and inheritance are both threatened, how far will she go to escape the only life she has ever known? Will she ever learn to trust her savior-- the dashing Brice Myerston, Duke of Nottingham-- who is not only a notorious flirt, but also has a few dangerous secrets of his own?In The Reluctant Duchess, Roseanna M. White tells a compelling story of redemption and love. Infinitely more relatable than Brooke Eden of White's previous novel in the series-- The Lost Heiress-- Rowena's story captivates and inspires. The central love story is suspenseful but not frustrating, exciting but believable, and beautifully concluded. On a deeper level, White expertly delves into the nature of God's work in our individual lives, and prods readers to explore their faith in things unseen. Set against the fascinating Scottish Highlands and the glittering ballrooms of Edwardian England's social elite, White takes her readers on a non-stop, page-turning adventure.I received this book for free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Flavourful romance
I really enjoyed this. At first I wasn't sure as I wasn't used to the heroine's ongoing speech written to the accent of Scottish people. For example: 'I ken young Kinnaird. He's a fine Highlander and will be a fine chief after me, and if we're glaikit enough to anger him, then it's on yer own head.'But it grew on me, as did the hero and heroine. Although I prefer the heroine. I thought the hero was.... too perfect in some ways although his conflicting emotions were fleshed out half way through the story, which made him more human.I really enjoyed this blending of faith and superstition which is unusual for a regency romance. It's romantic and heart-warming and showcases true love (with pleasant Christian undertones) that requires sacrifice.I do wish that the ending had been handled differently. There was not enough closure and the mystery of the diamonds fizzled out - but I wasn't irked or too bothered.I'd recommend it.

Beautiful
I think I loved this book even more than I did the last one. This is just an outstanding series. I can hardly wait to read it's conclusion with Emma's story. Thank you to Roseanne M. White for her masterful story telling skills.

Relatively uncommon plot and main theme for a christian novel, worth reading!
It's not your typical Christian romance, it's a Story about Diamonds, about a marriage of necessity and some suspense. I liked that the underlying plot was more a mystery/Thriller. Mrs. White has a Talent for love stories with historical backround. Coming from this novel I read the "Culper Ring" novels which I enjoyed as well. It is not necessary to read the "Ladies of the Manor"-Book 1 first, I didn't.

It was a very good read. I enjoyed it. I ordered book 3 in this series but it didn’t get to my kindle. Maybe went into the cloud and I don’t know how to get it.
