A handy resource that deserves its own shelf/counter space in every kitchen
If the year 2020 has taught us nothing, it has taught us that disasters can strike at any moment and take any form. Jordan Herman's "Prepper’s Survival Food Management Manual" is timely and delivers everything its promises and more. It's quite extensive in the range of areas covered, everything from food and water storage tips to weekly meal plans that take into consideration the shelf life of various food items. This book is an absolute must-have, and deserves its own shelf/counter space in every kitchen.Jordan is very thorough in his effort to present practical solutions to foreseeable issues likely to surface during a disaster. I liked that he alludes to building a habit of shopping for items made of certain materials, particularly as it relates to storage. As he rightfully stated, some disasters and emergencies don’t come with a warning. Preparation needs to start before a crisis hits, that means perhaps keeping a stockpile of non-perishables, purchasing unripe fruits/ vegetables and investing in items that work can without power.I found the section that delved into water storage and treatment escpecially useful. Water is life, and often times, after a disaster its the most unsafe natural resource. I also think this section would serve campers very well. All in all, this book does well in delivering both pre and post disaster survival tips. There is some kind of chronological feel to how the information is structured and related which made it obvious the author was writing from a place of experience. So much of what how we feel, especially in periods of high stress, depends on what we put into our bodies. I appreciate the emphasis placed on food prep during disasters as a lot of other survival guides tend direct focus elsewhere.Easy read. Very relevant. There's a section at the back of the book that I like to think of as a bonus. It's got budget-friendly recipes for the daring and diet-conscious. Breads, soups, stews, desserts etc. I've tried my hands at making Ash Cakes and was surprised how good they turned out.I can't recommend this book enough. Every household should keep a copy.

Read if you're a prepper!
The pandemic changed our view and way of living for good. We have been researching how to store food water and other items that can keep us alive and healthy. I have read and done some research online, most of the material including books talk mostly about what and how to store food and water, but not many talk about proper food storage and management, luckily, this book did just that. It was a great read, instructions are to the point, easy to follow, and precise. A good little resource for anyone interested in learning about a doomsday scenario where you need food and water to survive for a long while without any outside help.

A book no household should be without
An emergency survival kit is vital in a situation where the power goes out for days and the roads are impassable. As Preppers Survival Food Management Manual makes clear, it needn’t be a large or complicated thing, either. This handy manual shows how to select what belongs in a survival kit, and assemble, place, maintain, and use such a kit. Organizational skills are required, but this book spells out what needs to be done, and it’s all quite simple. This book lists the pros and cons of different storage areas, and which foods are best for those areas. The importance of obtaining usable water after a flood-type emergency is stressed. I was quite impressed by the tables provided that show the ratio of bleach for disinfecting wells of various types, depths, and diameters. There are also sample tables for making meal plans, and rotation of perishable supplies to avoid having stale food. The last section is a book of easy recipes, many of which do not require a working stove or oven. (I think my Mom made many of these; she must have learned Depression-era cooking from Grandma!) Because of the ease with which many of these dishes and snacks can be created, children can also be kept occupied preparing their own nutritious meals – a useful life skill even in non-emergency situations.

Ok but not great
Some good info but not a great book, pretty basic and repetitive, not very well written

A Must Have: Now and Always
At the onset of a pandemic we learnt the hard way how crucial it is to be prepared for emergencies. For many of us, who believe it is better to be safe than sorry but are clueless where to begin, this book comes as a godsend. The writer categorically tabulates all that we need to know as a Prepper. The book comprehensively covers everything about prepping starting from creating a disaster supply kit to preparing for food safety and sanitation. The writer keeps in mind dietary restrictions, food allergies, balanced diet and the nutritional requirement of every age group while preparing this guide. Problems like keeping the refrigerator clean and odor free or disposing of stale food do not skip the writer's mind. The meticulously prepared list of weekly meal plans and pocket friendly recipes are the icing on the cake.

Excellent resource
I've lived through a few disasters, and I was kind of well prepared for them. This book is an excellent resource to help households become even better prepared. Jordan Herman gave some very detailed advice about food selection, food storage and food management. Herman also discussed the very important issue of water and sanitation. He even included some recipes as a bonus. Every household should have a copy of this book to help prepare for any kind of disaster.
