Intriguing and challenging. It's not the sort of thing I would usually read but there are some interesting insights that last the test of time.

Praise for the book 100 days in the Secret Place
This is an interesting and wonderful book for meditation and for drawing closer to God. I have truly experienced the wonderful overwhelming grace and love of God while reading and meditating over these pages. As the writer said, the purpose of this book is to offer a way in which the LORD Jesus can take full possession of you.Truly, its a book that we can turn back to as we seek to walk deeper with the Lord.

This book has changed my world and my life of prayer, and more importantly led me where we all need to be...
I have always struggled with prayer...we all have, I am too intellectual...I get distracted by everything...I know God, He knows me....why keep praying the same thing over and over again...He remembers the first time....I did not know that the reason for Prayer was to develop a deeper more meaningful relationship...to fall deeply in love with my God...how could I not know that? After all my study? This book has challenged me, changed me through the Spirit, and has led me to a denial of loving myself so much, that I can finally be the vessel for the will of God...no more guessing what I am supposed to do....How could just one book have such a profound impact on my life? This must be the work of God...

One of the Best Books I've Ever Read
I did some short research on the three people quoted in this book; Fenelon, Francois de Salignac de la Mothe (1651-1715), Guyon, Madame (1648-1717), Molinos, Miguel de (c. 1640-97). They're all mystical Quietists described as:Quietism: A movement which held that the road to perfection consists in suppressing our old direct action and leaving all to God. It has been traced to the thirteenth century, but spread most widely in the seventeenth, when its leading exponents were Miguel de Molinos and Madame Guyon. Fenelon expounded a modified Quietism.... - Encyclopedia of Mysticism and the Mystery Religions (John Ferguson) P. 153This book is the collection of their short sayings on certain specific topics.I find them the most profound and the clearest in their ways of approaching and being with God. They've led me to believe that mystics of all ages, times, and generations do speak the same language with one same goal in common i.e., to be united with God or to be in the presence of God. (The word for God may vary with cultures.) They all seem to emphasize:1. All in your life is God's will. God's will and your will have emerged into one in the mystical state. It's the communion of heart as one with God.2. It's also the riddance of your self by praying, loving God and passing through tribulations while with God and by God which consequently cleanses and purifies the soul. The followings are quotes which will help illuminate each person in order of my admirations to them, followed by my comments on each.Fenelon:Until you see yourself in God's pure light, you really don't know yourself. P. 120Everything is for God, and for His purpose. God's glory and His purpose are the end of all things. P. 129Trust God. Love Him more than yourself. Love His glory more than your life. P.132I think Fenelon is orderly, erudite and with the correct point all the time. He's also personally kind and warm.Madame Guyon:...the divine light of your Lord can really reveal your heart far more effectively than all your efforts ever could. P. 48Welcome now to the ultimate state of Christian experience. Divine Union. P. 57Eventually it will take an act of God to make union a reality. P. 57It is by utter destruction of self that you acknowledge supreme existence of God. P. 106The Lord will meet you in your spirit. P. 150Madame Guyon is simple, stable, steady, deepest and finally, great!Molinos:The level of prayer you are seeking is a prayer free from a wandering imagination and from reasoning. P. 77Do not labor in constantly reminding the Lord of your commitment and resignation to Him. You have given Him the jewel; do not take it back. P. 83There are three kinds of silence: a silence of words, a silence of desires, and a silence of thoughts. The first is perfect. The second is even more perfect and the third is the most perfect. P. 84Of all the three mystics, Molinos was the most successful in his time with numerous followers, but he ended up imprisoned, banished, and dead in a Dominican monastery.
