Replacement LIGHT COFFEE/SAND STRONG & THICK Umbrella Canopy for 9ft 8 Ribs (Canopy Only)

Through trial and error I found that a 9ft replacement canopy w/ 53" poles covers an 8ft umbrella. These guys don't talk to eachother. The canopy was still work to get in the canopy pockets. Purchased because of heavier duty fabric and stiching. I was prepared to get a darker color than advertised (light coffee) based on reviewers (thank you) but I went for it anyway. Color is actually a Dark Mustard and I hope doesn't look too bad when the top fades out - which it will here in sunny Arizona.

I bought this a replacement for a Flexx umbrella where the canopy had become brittle from weather exposure. The color is exactly as shown in the picture. One item worth noting is that this umbrella canopy has a thin metal ring (grommet) around the center hole. The top post on my Flexx umbrella was too large to fit through the center hole of this replacement canopy, I had to remove the metal grommet (by destroying it with pliers) and feed the umbrella post through the hole in the fabric which is raw (no stitching around edge). This should be ok since my umbrella's top ball that goes over the hole has a large enough base to cover the entire hole. Also, the description on this replacement umbrella says it is "Strong & Thick". I am not sure how they measure that, but I was expecting a canopy that was comparable to the original Flexx umbrella canopy as far as material thickness. This canopy is not. While it fit nicely over my umbrella frame, the seams appear to be stretching and I'm not confident it will last as long as my original canopy.Overall, it is a decent replacement umbrella canopy at a decent price. Just do not expect much from the "Strong & Thick" claim and be prepared for some minor modifications in order to fit it on your umbrella frame.

This is an updated review; my original review is below. I've lowered my star rating from 5 to 3 stars.A major problem developed after about a year of use. The cord that opens the umbrella disintegrated. We now have to open and close the umbrella manually, a real nuisance. I live in a mild climate in northern California, in a dry area where we get little or no summer rain. We store the umbrella inside during the winter and haven't a cord break on any previous umbrella, so this was a disappointment. The fabric so far has held up well, but it's disappointing that we're going to have a buy a replacement so soon because of the cord.Original Review:============It arrived today, so I can't attest to its longevity, but it fit my 53 inch rib umbrella frame perfectly. The fabric feels slightly heavier duty than the old canopy fabric, which was on an umbrella I purchased from Sports Authority about five years ago. The color is slightly darker than in the Amazon picture. I was hoping for a lighter color because I know from other reviewers that it will fade fairly quickly, but the color isn't dark enough for fading to be a huge problem.So far I'm very satisfied. I'll post an update if anything happens to change my opinion.

the canopy seems to be of good workmanship. It was easy to install on the existing hardware. seems to be a good value, instead of paying over a $100 for a new umbrella. Have only had it for a few days, but am happy with it.
