Product Description Inaccurate!
The product is a spiral bound note book. I was expecting a proper bound diary of sorts.

Half the book of yesteryear, literally.
I got my first copy of the Mariner's Book of Days in 1992, and I have the 2017 edition sitting next to the 2014 edition as I write this. I was very disappointed when they stopped publishing these, and was more than a little pleased to learn that there would be a new edition in 2017. My first impression is that it's about half the thickness of the older edition. Also, it's printed in black and white on matte paper. The cover is in color, but is also on matte paper. The old edition was blue ink on a glossy white paper.Opening it up, you are immediately struck by the white space. There is a lot more of it. The pages with the nautical facts we've all come to love have about 2/3 of the information in the old edition. Also, while the old edition had a colored border and nautical facts pertaining to each day, both are gone in this new edition. Saturday and Sunday each get a full width line, though, which is appreciated. The other thing of note is that while the old editions had a full page of nautical lore for each page of calendar, the new book only has a full page every other set of pages. So February gets two pages of facts compared to five pages in the old edition. While I'm happy to have it back in print, and it still beats the (much more expensive) Leuchtturm1917 as an interesting diary, it's still a serious let down compared to the previous editions. I would have gladly paid more to have something on par with previous years rather than paid the same for a clearly inferior product. While Mr. Spectre's Book of Days was clearly a five star, this one is merely three. Hopefully Sheridan will get it's feet under it in Peter's absence and return to the smashing examples of yesteryear for the 2018 edition.

Not worth purchasing
Cheaply put together, scant on the sort of illustrations, tables, and bits of nautical knowledge that we came to appreciate in previous editions this reincarnation is not worth the price. The paper is cheap, and in all ways this is a poorly conceived knock off of the original.to entice me to buy the Mariner's Book of Days in future years Sheridan House will have to restore the product to at least a semblance of the Peter Spectre original.

Not as good as when Mr. Spectre did it.
Deffinately not the same as the original done by Peter Spectre. I can deal with the overall quality of the paper and borders. The part I really noticed and missed was the little notes, facts, tidbits that were part of every day. If Sheridan House can add that to next years version it will get a 4 star from me.

Mariner's Book of Days
Had one of these many years ago and was glad to find it again on Amazon. Packed with wonderful nautical info and trivia for those interested in such. Highly recommend and will now order annually.
