A brilliant and funny new chapter book series!
Magnificent Mabel and the Magic Caterpillar by Ruth Quayle and Julia ChristiansI'm so excited to have discovered this brilliant new chapter book series for new readers (age 5+)I love Mabel and her determination to try and be good even though it's so tricky! She always tries to tell 'the whole truth.'These stories are all so relatable and exactly mirror the thoughts and actions of typical 5-7 year olds! My daughter could have said so many of these things!!Mabel believes the caterpillar is magic and can make itself invisible. It isn't her drawing on her sister's friends homework but her friend Marcella's (that unfortunately no one else can see!) And Mabel definitely does need glasses just like Sophie Simpson (especially glasses that come with a clickety-clack case!) because she gets 'muddly eyes' in maths! I absolutely love Mabel and I know my daughter will too!Although these stories are quite easy for my daughter to read now they are such funny, relatable stories that I know she will love them.I would definitely recommend these books to Key Stage One children. This is book four in the series (although they can each be read as stand alone books.) They would make the perfect transition from picture books to chapter books and are great for new independent readers. There are fantastic black and white illustrations throughout the book which really bring Magnificent Mabel and her mischievous adventures to life!Thank you to nosycrow for kindly gifting me a copy to review.
